Hello everyone! Here I am with another project as Guest Designer for SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG.

Questa settimana il tema della Sfida è 'THINGS WITH WINGS', e per l'occasione ho deciso di fare una passeggiata nel mondo fatato del Piccolo Popolo, creando questo piccolo Home Decor pieno di dettagli in 3D. This week's theme is 'THINGS WITH WINGS' and I have decided to go for a stroll in the Fairy Realm of The Little People and create a little Home Decor full of 3D details. Ready for this new challenge? As usual you will find the supply list available at SIMON SAYS STAMP STORE at the end of the post.

Ho deciso di usare come base un cerchio di cartone pressato di recupero su cui ho steso uno strato di gesso bianco. Con un rullo ho steso i seguenti DISTRESS OXIDE INKS: TUMBLED GLASS, TWISTED CITRON, CRACKED PISTACHIO, BROKEN CHINA.

I have decided to use a recycled circle of heavy cardboard, covered it with a layer of white gesso, then with a brayer I added the following DISTRESS OXIDE INKS: TUMBLED GLASS, TWISTED CITRON, CRACKED PISTACHIO, BROKEN CHINA

Prima che il colore asciughi completamente ho posizionato lo STENCIL 'BUBBLES' sulla superficie e ho ripassato con una salviettina umidificata, togliendo parte del colore, poi ho asciugato.

Before the colors were completely dry I have used the STENCIL 'BUBBLES' and a baby wipe to lift the color, then  dried it well.

Sempre usando lo stesso stencil ho aggiunto della GRIT PASTE in alcuni punti, per creare texture, e mentre la pasta era ancora bagnata ho spolverato alcune zone con la DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SPECKLED EGG' ed infine ho asciugato con l'embosser.

Using the same stencil I have added GRIT PASTE in few areas to create texture and, while the paste was still wet I sprinkled DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SPECKLED EGG over some spots, leaving other areas white, then heat-set it with an embosser.

Ho usato la 3D TEXTURE FADES 'LUMBER' su un pezzo di cartoncino per acquerello per ricreare la texture del legno, trascinando il cuscinetto dell'inchiostro lungo la striscia di carta, spruzzando acqua, asciugando e passando al colore successivo. Ho usato i seguenti colori: DISTRESS OXIDE INKS WEATHERED WOOD, PEELED PAINT, PUMICE STONE, WALNUT STAIN. Poi con il blending tool sono andata ad aggiungere altro colore, intensificando le venature.
Per questo passaggio ho usato DISTRESS INKS GATHERED TWIGS, GROUND ESPRESSO, BLACK SOOT.

I have dry-embossed a piece of watercolor paper using 3D TEXTURE FADES 'LUMBER', then I swiped the ink pads over the paper, following the wood grain, spritzing with water and dried in between colors. For this step I have used DISTRESS OXIDE INKS WEATHERED WOOD, PEELED PAINT, PUMICE STONE, WALNUT STAIN. With a blending tool I added more color to enhance the texture, using DISTRESS INKS GATHERED TWIGS, GROUND ESPRESSO, BLACK SOOT.

Su cartoncino per acquerello ho timbrato dei fiori (FLOWER GARDEN) e la mia 'fatina' (HEART SONGS) usando il VERSAFINE 'ONYX BLACK' ed ho colorato le immagini con i DISTRESS MARKERS TWISTED CITRON, FOSSILIZED AMBER, CRACKED PISTACHIO, SPICED MARMALADE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, inoltre sia sulle ali che sulla coroncina della piccola fata ho usato il WINK OF STELLA 'CLEAR'. Ho poi ritagliato il tutto.

On watercolor paper I have stamped few flowers (FLOWER GARDEN STAMP SET) and a little fairy (HEART SONGS STAMP) using VERSAFINE 'ONYX BLACK' ink pad, then I have colored the images with DISTRESS MARKERS TWISTED CITRON, FOSSILIZED AMBER, CRACKED PISTACHIO, SPICED MARMALADE, PEACOCK FEATHERS. On the wings and the crown of the fairy I added also WINK OF STELLA 'CLEAR' and once dry I fussy cut everything.

Ho aggiunto del gesso bianco (va bene anche dell'acrilico bianco) sul retro delle farfalle 'TRANSPARENT WINGS' e poi ho assemblato il tutto usando la colla a caldo per incollare le farfalle in acetato e la colla NUVO DELUXE ADHESIVE per tutto il resto. Come sentiment ho usato una QUOTE CHIP.

I painted the back of the 'TRANSPARENT WINGS' with white gesso (but you can use white acrylic paint as well)  then started to assemble my project. I have used hot glue gun for the transparencies and NUVO DELUXE ADHESIVE for the rest. I have also used a QUOTE CHIP as sentiment.

Buongiorno a tutti!!! Mamma da quanto tempo non posto più su queste povere pagine...

Oggi sono qui per presentarvi la mia ispirazione per la Moodboard di Marzo relativa al gioco sul gruppo Mixed Medi@ Italia ...quest'anno abbiamo deciso di cambiare un pò ed abbiamo sostituito le #12MMITags con #MMIFun non più solo tags, ma home decor, layouts, tele ed Art Journal... ed ecco il mio progetto...uno spread sul mio A.J. (che oltre tutto è anche perfetto per la Sfida del Lunedì sul Blog di SIMON SAYS STAMP...)

Hello everyone!!! Oh boy has been so long since my last post on these neglected pages...

Today I am here to show you my inspirational project based on the March Moodboard for our little game on Mixed Medi@ Italia Facebook Group ...this year we have decided to change things a bit and came up with the idea of #MMIFun ...not only tags, but home decors, layouts, canvases and Art Journal pages...and that is exactly what I made...a new spread in my A.J. (which is also perfect for this week's challenge over at SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG, by the way...)

Ho coperto le pagine con uno strato di Gesso Bianco e mentre era ancora bagnato ho spruzzato il Distress Oxide Spray Speckled Egg, aggiunto acqua e con un pennello ho steso il colore. Ho asciugato bene e ripetuto il processo con D.O.S. Frayed Burlap, ho tamponato il colore in eccesso con della carta accartocciata (che aggiunge anche della texture) ed asciugato. Ho poi premuto il Distress Oxide Frayed Burlap su un pezzo di acetato, spruzzato con acqua e picchiettato sulle pagine, asciugato e ripetuto con D.O. Ground Espresso e Speckled Egg.

I coated the pages with White Gesso and while still wet I sprayed with Distress Oxide Spray Speckled Egg, spritzed with water and used a brush to spread the colour. Dried well then repeated the process with D.O.S. Frayed Burlap, removing the excess with a scrunched up paper towel (which adds also texture) and dried well.   Then I 'smooshed' Distress Oxide Frayed Burlap onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water and pressed onto the pages, dried and repeated the process with D.O. Ground Espresso and Speckled Egg.

Usando i Distress Inks Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers e Ground Espresso ho aggiunto una stencilata a forma di farfalla sulla pagina a sinistra in alto a sinistra e nella pagina a destra in basso in mezzo, con il tampone nero waterproof ho aggiunto delle timbrate sia sulla pagina a sinistra in basso che nella pagina a destra, dove volevo il punto focale principale.   Ho poi aggiunto delle timbrate 'riempitive' con i D.O. Black Soot e Peacock Feathers e dei tocchi di modeling paste con uno stencil. Con un pennello asciutto ho aggiunto dei colpi di Gesso Bianco sia nel centro che sui bordi ed asciugato bene.

I stenciled a buttefly using Distress Inks Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers and Ground Espresso on both pages, then stamped the selected images with a waterproof black ink pad. Stamped some more 'filling' using D.O. Black Soot and Peacock Feathers, then added few touches of modeling paste with another stencil. I drybrushed White Gesso on the center and on the borders of the pages then dried well.

Ho timbrato delle immagini su carta per acquerello e le ho colorate con i materiali che vedete in foto poi le ho ritagliate.

I stamped some images on watercolour paper and coloured them using what you see in the picture below, then fussy cut them.

Ho incollato le varie immagini e decorazioni, aggiunto della garza e del filo nero. Poi ho incollato dei pezzi di washi tape nel centro dello spread e coperto con Soft Matte gel, poi ho aggiunto anche un pò di gesso bianco e tolto l'eccesso con delle salviettine, asciugato ed iniziato ad ombreggiare sia i washi che le pagine con i Distress Crayons: come base ho usato Vintage Photo, poi Walnut Stain, Black Soot e Peacock Feathers. Con il D.O. Black Soot ho aggiunto qualche timbrata ed asciugato.

I glued the images and few decorations, gauze and black thread, then added pieces of washi tape and sealed them with Soft Matte Gel, covered with white gesso and took off the excess with a baby wipe. Added shadows on the washis and on the pages using Distress Crayons: Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Black Soot and Peacock Feathers. Added stamping with D.O. Black Soot.

When I learnt about the theme of the current challenge, I just thought that I could totally relate, because I definitely do not have access to craft classes in my area and mostly take online classes, read blog posts or watch video tutorials on YouTube...

I have been inspired by so many talented artists through the years.. all of them have always been so generous with their time and talent as they shared tips and tutorials on the web...I firmly believe that what fuels our Arts&Crafts World is sharing...tips, techniques, love for the craft and for the crafters...always being inspired and be inspiring!

Quando ho saputo il tema della sfida, mi ci sono subito ritrovata, perchè anch'io non ho accesso a nessun corso vicino a casa, quindi la maggior parte della mia ispirazione viene da corsi online, dai vari tutorial letti nei blog o dai video su YouTube...

Nel corso degli anni sono stata ispirata da tantissimi artisti di talento...tutti loro hanno sempre condiviso tutorials e suggerimenti con generosità...credo fermamente che la nostra Comunità Artistica sia alimentata dalla condivisione...tecniche, suggerimenti, amore per la creatività e per i creativi...essere sempre ispirati ed essere di ispirazione!

For this project I took inspiration from a live video series called Mixed Media Minutes by Finnabair (Anna Dabrowska) – these are available on her YouTube Channel.

The one I chose is VINTAGE GIFT BAG.

I wanted to give this a try for a long time, so this occasion was just perfect...I chose this one because it's vintage, multi-layered and just speaks to my heart. I love Anna and her carefree way to create...so relaxed...just enjoying the process and go with the flow. You can tell by the video, it's just a breathe of fresh air, building layers on layers, adding bits and bobs, without worrying too much and completely stress-free...

Per questo progetto mi sono ispirata ad una serie di live chiamata Mixed Media Minutes di Finnabair (Anna Dabrowska) – che potete trovare sul suo canale YouTube.

Quello in questione è VINTAGE GIFT BAG.

Volevo provarlo da tempo e l'occasione giusta si è presentata...Ho scelto questo, tra tanti perchè è vintage, con tanti strati e parla al mio cuore. Adoro Anna ed il suo modo di creare 'leggero'...così rilassato...si gode il viaggio così come viene. Lo potete vedere nel video, una boccata di aria fresca, costruire strato su strato, aggiungere un pezzo dopo l'altro, senza patemi e completamente senza stress...

Let's start, shall we?

Ed ora iniziamo...

I built a first layer of stamping on a small canvas, using Archival Black Ink...you do not need to be precise, as you are just building your background. Once dry I covered with a layer of Heavy White Gesso...I did it in an uneven way, leaving ridges here and there, and spots without gesso at all, in order to have even more interest when it comes to add colour.

Ho iniziato stampando in modo casuale sulla tela, usando inchiostro nero Archival..non c'è bisogno di essere precisi in quanto si sta costruendo lo sfondo. Una volta asciutto ho coperto con uno strato di Heavy Gesso White...l'ho fatto in modo del tutto casuale, lasciando zone del tutto scoperte ed altre con il segno della pennellata, per dare più interesse una volta aggiunto il colore.

Let that dry, then added more random stamping and dried once again before starting to build my layers...

Ho fatto asciugare bene poi ho aggiunto delle altre timbrate ed asciugato ancora una volta prima di iniziare a costruire gli strati...

Tore few pieces of patterned paper and glued everything with Soft Matte Gel...added pieces of book pages, washi tape, die-cut tags from patterned paper, bits of lace, then cheese cloth, thread and paper flowers. Using 3D Matte Gel I have also glued some chipboard gears...

Ho strappato dei pezzi di carta patterned ed incollati con il Soft Matte Gel...ho aggiunto pezzi di pagine di libro, washi tape, delle tags fustellate da carta patterned, pezzetti di pizzo, garza, filo e fiori di carta. Usando il 3D Matte Gel ho anche incollato delle chipboard...

Now it's time to add colour...For this project Finnabair used Black Tea in a spray bottle...how intriguing is this? Talking about vintage...alas...my tea mixture wasn't that strong, so when I sprayed, it gave only a subtle shade...hence I just added few drops of Vintage Photo Distress Reinker, and finally got the colour that I needed! Inspiration...but also improvisation..lol!

Ora è arrivato il momento di aggiungere colore...Per questo progetto Finnabair ha usato del te nero in una bottiglietta spray...la trovo una soluzione molto interessante...a proposito di vintage! Purtroppo il mio te nero non è risultato abbastanza forte, ed una volta spruzzato non colorava molto...allora ho aggiunto alcune gocce di Distress Reinker Vintage Photo e finalmente ho avuto il risultato che volevo! Ispirazione...ma anche improvvisazione...lol!

Before adding all the bits and bobs, I drybrushed the edges of the canvas with a thin layer of white gesso, glued the tiny pic from the Idea-ology Photobooth strips, few metals gears because, let's face it...I love Steampunk and I really can't help it...a couple of buttons, few metal stars, a pin with an Adage Ticket and a couple of Clippings stickers, all from the Idea-ology line by Tim Holtz.

Note: to glue pieces of paper or lace the Soft Matte Gel is enough, but to stick down heavier pieces, such as metal gears or buttons you need to use a stronger medium such as 3D Matte Gel or Heavy Body Gel.

Prima di aggiungere gli altri elementi, ho aggiunto uno strato sottile di gesso bianco con la tecnica del drybrushing, ho incollato la piccola foto dalle strisce Photobooth di Tim Holtz Idea-ology, degli ingranaggi in metallo..perchè diciamolo...amo lo Steampunk e proprio non riesco ad evitarlo...un paio di bottoni, delle stelline in metallo, una spilla con un Adage Ticket ed un paio di Clippings stickers, tutto della linea Idea-ology di Tim Holtz

Nota: per incollare pezzi di carta o pizzo, il Soft Matte Gel è abbastanza, ma per incollare cose più pesanti, tipo gli abbellimenti in metallo o i bottoni allora avrete bisogno di un medium più forte, tipo il 3D Matte Gel o Heavy Body Gel.
