Questa settimana il tema della Sfida è 'INSPIRED BY AN ARTIST', ed ho avuto solo l'imbarazzo della scelta tra i vari artisti a cui potermi ispirare...alla fine, forse senza troppe sorprese, la scelta è caduta su lui, l'unico ed inimitabile TIM HOLTZ!

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Here I am with my last project as Guest Designer for SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG.
This week's theme is 'INSPIRED BY AN ARTIST' and there is a pletora of artists who are or have been a massive source of inspiration. Finally and maybe not surprisingly, I decided to choose the one and only TIM HOLTZ!
As usual you will find a supply list of the material used and available at SIMON SAYS STAMP STORE at the end of the post.

Per questo progetto ho deciso di ispirarmi alla tecnica del Collage illustrata da Tim durante i suoi bellissimi Live del Sabato sul suo canale You Tube (se non lo avete ancora fatto, andate ed iscrivetevi...quell'uomo è una fucina di idee e soprattutto spiega e dimostra alla perfezione tutti i materiali della sua linea. Unica avvertenza...alla fine vi verrà voglia di comprare tutto quello che vi fa vedere nella Demo! Lol!)

Per creare questo sfondo ho deciso di usare vari materiali con diversi spessori, per aggiungere più interesse al tutto.
Come base ho utilizzato una MINI TAG CHIPBOARD ETCETERA (che ad onor del vero tanto mini non è...), su cui ho passato uno strato di gesso bianco e poi ricoperto con COLLAGE PAPER 'DOCUMENT' e pezzi di DESIGN TAPE. Dopodichè ho iniziato ad incollare vari elementi delle collezioni EPHEMERA THRIFT SHOP e LAYERS EPHEMERA COLLECTOR con il DISTRESS COLLAGE MEDIUM 'VINTAGE'. Dopo aver coperto tutto con un ulteriore strato di collage medium, per evitare che si vedessero i segni del pennello, ho usato il dito con un movimento circolare e steso bene il tutto. La colorazione del gel mi dona già un look vintage ed 'Old style' che adoro!


For this project I have decided to create something inspired by the Collage technique as seen during one of Tim's amazing Saturday You Tube Live Demos.(If you haven't already, just go and subscribe...that man's mind is always at work with awesome ideas but most of all he explains and shows how to use the many materials from his line like no other. One word of caution...eventually you are gonna NEED every single thing he uses in the Demo and this will cause a massive shopping spree! Lol!)

To create this background I have played with various materials and I think that their different thickness add to the overall interest of the project.
As my base I have used an ETCETERA CHIPBOARD MINI TAG (which is not mini at all...lol), after adding a thin layer of white gesso I covered the tag with COLLAGE PAPER 'DOCUMENT' and bits and pieces of DESIGN TAPE, then started to adhere various elements from the collections EPHEMERA THRIFT SHOP and LAYERS EPHEMERA COLLECTOR using DISTRESS COLLAGE MEDIUM 'VINTAGE'. Once everything was in place and covered with another layer of collage medium, in order to avoid visible brush strokes I spread it with my fingers with a circular motion. The brown tinted gel gives the project a Vintage and Old style look that I truly love!

Una volta asciutto ho scurito i bordi e dato risalto ai vari elementi con i DISTRESS CRAYONS.
Di solito non uso colori troppo accesi, ed infatti anche in questo caso, specie per mantenere l'effetto Vintage ho preferito usare: FOSSILIZED AMBER, RUSTY HINGE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, BLACK SOOT. Per aggiungere dei tocchi di luce qua e là ho usato il PICKET FENCE.
Poi ho appoggiato lo STENCIL 'INDUSTRIAL' sulla tag e con una salviettina quasi asciutta ho 'tolto' il colore in alcuni punti. L'effetto sullo sfondo scuro è molto sottile ma mi piace.
Con la stessa salviettina ho ripassato alcune zone per schiarire lo sfondo e far intravedere meglio alcuni elementi.

Once dry I enhanced the edges of the collaged pieces with DISTRESS CRAYONS.
I usually do not use bold colors, in fact in order to keep the Vintage look I have used: FOSSILIZED AMBER, RUSTY HINGE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, BLACK SOOT. To add highlights I have used PICKET FENCE in few spots.
With an almost dry baby wipe and LAYERING STENCIL INDUSTRIAL I have lifted some color...it's very subtle but I really like the effect against the dark background.
I have also used the baby wipe to scrub off the color here and there, revealing the background underneath even more.

Ora...potevo fermarmi qui? Certo che no! Quindi ho costruito altri strati con gli EPHEMERA per preparare il sostegno per la mia BASEBOARD DOLL.
Dopo aver usato il DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT lungo il bordo sinistro per accentuare l'ombra ho seguito i contorni del vestito e del cappello con una embossing pen e poi ho usato le DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE SPECKLED EGG e RUSTY HINGE.
Ho aggiunto ancora il DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT sul vestito del gentiluomo per un look ancora più 'rovinato' ed infine l'ho incollata con la COLLA NUVO.

Ho coperto una METAL WORD BAND con il DISTRESS CRAYON PICKET FENCE, e poi con uno straccio ho tolto l'eccesso e l'ho legata alla tag con dello spago.
Ho invecchiato l'anello di rinforzo per il foro della tag usando i DISTRESS CRAYONS VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, RUSTY HINGE, BLACK SOOT e PEACOCK FEATHERS per creare l'effetto patina.
Come tocco finale ho incollato un CLIPPING sticker ed una MINI PAPER CLIP.

Now...could I stop here? Of course not! Hence I built more layers using other EPHEMERA bits and pieces to prepare the perfect spot where to place my BASEBOARD DOLL.
After scribbling DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT onto its side, to deepen the shadows, I have covered the areas that I wanted to 'glaze' with an embossing pen, then sprinkled with DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE SPECKLED EGG, for the dress and RUSTY HINGE for the hat and heat set them.
I've added more DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT on the gent's dress to add to the worn look, then glued it in place using NUVO GLUE

I've covered a METAL WORD BAND with DISTRESS CRAYON PICKET FENCE, then scrubbed off the excess to highlight the words and added to the tag with some twine.
I've 'aged' the hole reinforcer using DISTRESS CRAYONS VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, RUSTY HINGE, BLACK SOOT and PEACOCK FEATHERS to create the patina effect.
As final touches I added a CLIPPING Sticker and a MINI PAPER CLIP.

Ciao a tutti e bentornati! E' da un pò di tempo che manco da queste pagine e quale migliore occasione per tenervi compagnia per il mese di Maggio se non l'onore ed il piacere di essere la Guest Designer sul Blog SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE?
Ringrazio tantissimo LOLS per avermi voluta per questo mese ed  eccomi quindi, mentre sto ancora facendo  la mia 'happy dance', a presentare il mio progetto... una card per il tema di questa settimana 'FEMININE' con l'utilizzo del bellissimo set di timbri 'SKETCH LOTUS FLOWERS' di SIMON SAYS STAMP. Hello everyone and welcome back! It's been a while since my last post on these pages and what better occasion for keeping you company for the month of May than having the pleasure and honor of being the Guest Designer over at SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE Blog?
I thank LOLS from the bottom of my heart for asking me to be with you during this month..Hence here I am, still dancing my 'happy dance', to show you my project...a card for this week's theme 'FEMININE', showcasing the fab products by SIMON SAYS STAMP, case in point the beautiful stamp set 'SKETCH LOTUS FLOWER'. As usual you will find a supply list of the available material over at SIMON SAYS STAMP STORE at the end of the post.

Ho iniziato con del cartoncino pesante per acquerello, ho spruzzato i seguenti DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY INKS: RUSTIC WILDERNESS, MOWED LAWN, TWISTED CITRON, spruzzato acqua per fare 'correre' il colore e farli 'ossidare' ed asciugato bene.

On a piece of heavy watercolor paper I have sprayed the following DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY INKS: RUSTIC WILDERNESS, MOWED LAWN, TWISTED CITRON, spritzed with water to make the colors 'run' and bring forth the oxidation, then dry it well.

Ho creato la texture grazie all'embossing folder 3D TEXTURE FADES 'CRACKLE' e con un blending tool ho evidenziato le zone in rilievo con i DISTRESS OXIDE INKS RUSTIC WILDERNESS e TWISTED CITRON, ritagliato a misura e messo da parte.

I created texture with a dry embossing technique and the 3D TEXTURE FADES 'CRACKLE' embossing folder, then with a blending tool and DISTRESS OXIDE INKS RUSTIC WILDERNESS e TWISTED CITRON I added color on the raised edges, cut to size and set aside.

Su un'altro pezzo di cartoncino per acquerello ho spruzzato il DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY INK PICKED RASPBERRY ed acqua ed asciugato. Con lo Stencil BUBBLES ed il blending tool ho aggiunto tocchi di DISTRESS OXIDE KITSCH FLAMINGO e DISTRESS INK PICKED RASPBERRY, ho spruzzato lo stencil 'sporco' con acqua e l'ho premuto sul cartoncino, tamponando con un pezzo di carta da cucina, spruzzato di nuovo, premuto ancora e tamponato l'eccesso di acqua. Asciugato bene.

On another piece of watercolor paper I sprayed DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY INK PICKED RASPBERRY and water and dried. With LAYERING STENCIL 'BUBBLES' and blending tool I added DISTRESS OXIDE KITSCH FLAMINGO and DISTRESS INK PICKED RASPBERRY, then spritzed the leftover color on the stencil with water and pressed on the cardstock, dabbing the excess of water with a paper towel, spritzed again the now clean stencil and repeated the process. Dried well.

                                       

Con l'inchiostro VERSAFINE 'ONYX BLACK' ho timbrato i fiori del set SKETCH LOTUS FLOWERS di SIMON SAYS STAMP su cartoncino per acquerello ed ho iniziato a colorare l'immagine con un pennello sottile ed i DISTRESS OXIDE INKS ed i DISTRESS INKS: per i fiori ho usato D.O. KITSCH FLAMINGO e D.I. PICKED RASPBERRY, per le foglie e gli steli D.O. TWISTED CITRON e D.I. MOWED LAWN ed ho usato il DISTRESS INK HICKORY SMOKE per aggiungere l'ombreggiatura. Ho poi ritagliato il tutto.

I stamped the flowers from the stamp set SKETCH LOTUS FLOWERS by SIMON SAYS STAMP on watercolor paper using VERSAFINE 'ONYX BLACK' ink pad, then started to add color the image with a fine tip brush and DISTRESS OXIDE INKS and DISTRESS INKS: for the flowers I have used D.O. KITSCH FLAMINGO and D.I. PICKED RASPBERRY, for the leaves and stems D.O. TWISTED CITRON and D.I. MOWED LAWN, and DISTRESS INK HICKORY SMOKE to add shadows. Then fussy cut the image.

Gli ultimi tocchi:
Timbrato un sentiment dal set con DISTRESS EMBOSSING INK, aggiunto polvere da embossing bianca ed embossato. Ho strappato i bordi per dare l'aria vissuta e rovinata.  Con le forbici ho 'rovinato' i bordi dei cartoncini , ho incollato del nastro biadesivo spessorato dietro al cartoncino rosa ed incollato sul verde, ho aggiunto la striscia di vellum e poi con una posca pen bianca ho fatto cadere delle gocce su tutto quanto. Ho 'mattato' il tutto su cartoncino bianco, ho incollato i fiori aggiungendo dello spessore e del filo bianco, ed infine qualche goccia di NUVO CRYSTAL DROPS SIMPLY WHITE.

Final touches:
I stamped a strip of vellum with a sentiment from the set with DISTRESS EMBOSSING INK , added white embossing powder and heat embossed. I teared the edges of the strip to give it a worn look, then with a pair of scissors I 'distressed' the edges of the cards, used double sided foam tape on the back of the pink cardstock and glued it over the green one, added the strip of vellum and used a white posca pen to spatter the card. Glued everything over a piece of white cardstock, added the flowers with double sided foam tape, white thread and few accents of NUVO CRYSTAL DROPS 'SIMPLY WHITE'.

Ed ecco la card finita...spero vi sia piaciuta...Ed ora tocca a voi...non vi resta che mettervi al lavoro e creare qualcosa ispirato al prompt della settimana ed ai meravigliosi lavori del fantastico Design Team e partecipare alla sfida perchè vi ricordo che c'è un voucher di $25 messo in palio da SIMON SAYS STAMP per il vincitore! #12MMITags2020 Maggio - Think Green!

Ciao a tutti e bentornati! Siamo già a Maggio ed incredibilmente ho già pronta la mia versione delle #12MMITags2020 per la challenge mensile del Gruppo Facebook Mixed Medi@ Italia.

Come sempre la nostra Giuliana si è superata ed ha creato questa meravigliosa Moodboard...Think Green...non solo per quanto riguarda il colore VERDE, ma anche inteso come riciclo...

Non so voi, ma io non butto mai niente, ed ho varie scatole piene di avanzi di backgrounds, fustellate varie mai utilizzate, pezzi di cartone, parti di metallo di qualsivoglia forma, che diciamocelo sono tutte cose perfette per il Mixed Media. Ho quindi deciso di utilizzare un pò di questi rimasugli per creare la mia Tag di Maggio.

Hello and welcome! It's May already and I know...it's quite unbelievable, but here I am with my take on the #12MMITags2020 monthly challenge over at Mixed Medi@ Italia Facebook Group.

As usual our Giuliana created an amazing Moodboard... Think Green...not only about the colour but also about recycling.

I don't about you, but I'm kind of hoarder and I have boxes full of left-overs, broken parts of different objects, trinkets, die cuts and so on, which admittedly are all perfect to create Mixed Media backgrounds, so I have decided to use some of these things to create my May Tag.

As usual you will find a supply list at the end of this post.

Iniziamo...Per creare la mia base ho usato una vecchia tag di 'prova', una etichetta di un vestito, i cartoncini delle confezioni Idea-Ology di Tim Holtz, un pezzo di tovaglietta in juta, ed ho unito il tutto con la graffatrice. Ho anche usato dei pezzi di nastro per edilizia.

Let's start...To create my base I have used different recycled tags (old background, a dress tag, cardboard packaging) a piece of burlap, and bits of drywall tape, everything kept in place with my stapler.

Usando il Soft Gel (per i pezzi di pagine ed il nastro) ed il 3D Matte Gel (per tutte le cose più pesanti) ho incollato i vari materiali alla Tag e lasciato asciugare bene, poi ho coperto tutto con il Gesso Nero.

Using Soft Matte Gel (for book pages and ribbon) and 3D Matte Gel (for all the heavy stuff) I have glued everything on the Tag and let air dry, then covered with Heavy Black Gesso.

                       

Con il Gloss Gel ho aggiunto qualche dettaglio con uno stencil, poi prima che asciugasse ci ho versato sopra del glitter. Ho deciso di utilizzare varie tonalità di verde, sia in forma spray che in polvere ed una volta asciutto ho aggiunto dei tocchi di Interference, che è un colore fluido bianco ma su base nera diventa colorato, in questo caso ho usato il 'Green', poi ho aggiunto le cere di Finnabair...ho iniziato con l'Antique brilliance 'Lucky Emerald', poi le Metallique 'White Gold' e 'Vintage Gold', per dare dei tocchi di luce. Ho infine incollato un viso fatto con stampo in silicone ed una lampadina bruciata dell'albero di Natale. Completa il tutto una Quote Chip.

Using Gloss Gel and a stencil I have added few details, then sprinkled with glitter. I have decided to use different shades of green, both in spray and in powder, then once dry I added few touches of Interference 'Green', which is a white fluid acrylic paint but when used on a black surface you can see the actual colour, in this case green. I have used also Finnabair waxes to enhance the green tint (Antique Brilliance 'Lucky Emerald') and to add highlight (Metallique 'White Gold' and 'Vintage Gold'). I have glued a face made with a silicone mould and a broken Christmas light. As final touch I added a Quote Chip.

Shadow box card per Scrap & Craft DT...

Ciao a tutti e benvenuti!!! Oggi vi presento il mio progetto per il DT di Scrap & Craft ...una card contenente una Shadow Box.

Hello everyone! Today I am showing my latest project for Scrap & Craft DT... a Shadow Box Card.

Iniziamo dalla shadow box...

Prendere un foglio 12x12 pollici e fare le seguenti pieghe: a 1 – 1 ½ – 2 ½ – 3 pollici girare e fare la stessa cosa su tutti i lati. Poi fare un'altra piega a 4 pollici ed a 8, ma SOLO fino alla seconda linea delle pieghe fatte in precedenza (si lo so, sembra complicato ma non lo è, fidatevi...guardate la foto sotto per capire meglio). Questo procedimento va fatto solo su 2 lati opposti del foglio.

Per aiutarvi potete tracciare con una matita le linee da tagliare via...vedete foto sotto...
Questo passaggio va fatto per tutti e 4 gli angoli.

Segnate bene le pieghe con una pieghetta, aggiungete il nastro biadesivo ed iniziate ad incollare i lati, partendo da quelli più lunghi...

e voilà ...ecco la nostra Shadow Box.

Dal momento che ho scelto una carta patterned che mi piaceva particolarmente, non ho voluto coprirla, ma solo aggiungere qualche dettaglio all'interno...ho ritagliato dei fiori  e li ho incollati con del biadesivo spessorato, per dare più dimensionalità, ho aggiunto delle foglie fustellate da cartoncino bianco, del nastro di raso, delle mezze perle ed un sentiment timbrato su un ritaglio di carta patterned.

Per la card usare del cartoncino abbastanza spesso, tagliato a 6 ½ x 13 ½ pollici, e fare due pieghe a pollici  7 e 7 ½ .
Per tenere chiusa la card ho pensato ad una chiusura magnetica,  quindi tagliare una striscia di 3 ½ x 1 ¼ pollici e fare una  piega a 1 ½ e una a 2 pollici. Sulla parte interna incollare una calamita molto sottile ed incollarne una seconda sulla parte frontale della card, che verrà coperta dalla decorazione.

Per la facciata ho semplicemente ritagliato da un'altra carta patterned un quadrato di  6 ¼ x 6¼ pollici, fustellato delle etichette usando avanzi di carta e del cartoncino bianco, su cui ho timbrato un sentiment, poi ho aggiunto un nastrino di raso e delle mezze perle.

Non rimane che incollare la Shadow Box con del nastro biadesivo.

Let's STENCIL...

Ciao a tutti e bentornati! Oggi voglio mostrarvi una Tag in stile Steampunk...
Quando hai delle amiche di talento che creano Stencils...e Simon dice 'Stencil it'...metà del lavoro è praticamente fatto!
Per questo progetto ho utilizzato gli stencils della linea 'Crazy Girls Stencil'  distribuiti da Piccole Passioni, 'Geometric Doodle' di La Sab Design (creato da Sabrina Perna)  e 'Romantic Steampunk' di Terelisa Design (creato da Terelisa Agosti).

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today I will show you a Steampunk Tag...
When you have talented friends who create stencils...and Simon Says 'Stencil it' well...half work is already done!
For this project I have used Stencils from 'Crazy Girls Stencil' line, distributed by Piccole Passioni,
 'Geometric Doodle' by La Sab Design (created by  Sabrina Perna)  and  'Romantic Steampunk' by Terelisa Design (created by  Terelisa Agosti).

Ho usato del cartoncino per acquerello per questa Tag...ho usato lo stencil 'Geometric Doodle' ed il Distress Oxide ink pad 'Walnut Stain' poi, dopo averlo pulito, ho girato lo stencil sul retro e ci ho spruzzato su il Distress Resist Spray. Prima che asciugasse del tutto ho fatto cadere un po' di polvere per embossing Distress Vintage Photo, che ha creato delle macchie come di ruggine. Ho aggiunto della Modeling Paste usando lo stencil 'Romantic Steampunk' (la parte con gli ingranaggi ed i fiorellini) ed ho asciugato bene.
Ho aggiunto i colori 'spatasciando' direttamente gli Oxides sul Craft Sheet, spruzzandoli con acqua e passandoci dentro la Tag.
Di solito uso il Gesso come base per i miei lavori...questa volta invece non l'ho usato e devo dire che l'ossidazione dei colori è venuta spettacolare...

I have used watercolour cardstock for this Tag...started using 'Geometric Doodle' stencil with Distress Oxide ink Walnut Stain. Then, after cleaning the stencil I just reverse it and sprayed Distress Resist Spray onto the tag...before it was completely dry I sprinkled Distress embossing powder Vintage Photo, that created some beautiful rusty spots. Added Modeling Paste through 'Romantic Steampunk' stencil, using the design with gears and tiny flowers, and let dry.
Added colours 'smooshing' the Distress Oxide ink pads on the Craft Sheet, spritzing  with water and tapping the Tag into them.
I usually Gesso the substrates for my projects...not this time and I must say that the oxidation of the colours turned out amazing...

Ho scurito i bordi ed aggiunto qualche timbrata qua e là...

Darkened the edges and added more interest with a stamp...

Per completare il tutto ho aggiunto vari abbellimenti...del washi tape, filo, ingranaggi di metallo, una Paper Doll, un paio di stickers ed un bel nastrino.

To finish it off I added few embellishments...some washi tape, thread, metallic gears, a Paper Doll, a couple of stickers and a lovely ribbon.
