Ciao a tutti e buon Lunedì! Eccomi a voi con il mio ultimo progetto come Guest Designer per il Blog SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE.
Questa settimana il tema della Sfida è 'INSPIRED BY AN ARTIST', ed ho avuto solo l'imbarazzo della scelta tra i vari artisti a cui potermi ispirare...alla fine, forse senza troppe sorprese, la scelta è caduta su lui, l'unico ed inimitabile TIM HOLTZ!

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Here I am with my last project as Guest Designer for SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG.
This week's theme is 'INSPIRED BY AN ARTIST' and there is a pletora of artists who are or have been a massive source of inspiration. Finally and maybe not surprisingly, I decided to choose the one and only TIM HOLTZ!

Per questo progetto ho deciso di ispirarmi alla tecnica del Collage illustrata da Tim durante i suoi bellissimi Live del Sabato sul suo canale You Tube (se non lo avete ancora fatto, andate ed iscrivetevi...quell'uomo è una fucina di idee e soprattutto spiega e dimostra alla perfezione tutti i materiali della sua linea. Unica avvertenza...alla fine vi verrà voglia di comprare tutto quello che vi fa vedere nella Demo! Lol!)

Per creare questo sfondo ho deciso di usare vari materiali con diversi spessori, per aggiungere più interesse al tutto.
Come base ho utilizzato una MINI TAG CHIPBOARD ETCETERA (che ad onor del vero tanto mini non è...), su cui ho passato uno strato di gesso bianco e poi ricoperto con COLLAGE PAPER 'DOCUMENT' e pezzi di DESIGN TAPE. Dopodichè ho iniziato ad incollare vari elementi delle collezioni EPHEMERA THRIFT SHOP e LAYERS EPHEMERA COLLECTOR con il DISTRESS COLLAGE MEDIUM 'VINTAGE'. Dopo aver coperto tutto con un ulteriore strato di collage medium, per evitare che si vedessero i segni del pennello, ho usato il dito con un movimento circolare e steso bene il tutto. La colorazione del gel mi dona già un look vintage ed 'Old style' che adoro!


For this project I have decided to create something inspired by the Collage technique as seen during one of Tim's amazing Saturday You Tube Live Demos.(If you haven't already, just go and subscribe...that man's mind is always at work with awesome ideas but most of all he explains and shows how to use the many materials from his line like no other. One word of caution...eventually you are gonna NEED every single thing he uses in the Demo and this will cause a massive shopping spree! Lol!)

To create this background I have played with various materials and I think that their different thickness add to the overall interest of the project.
As my base I have used an ETCETERA CHIPBOARD MINI TAG (which is not mini at all...lol), after adding a thin layer of white gesso I covered the tag with COLLAGE PAPER 'DOCUMENT' and bits and pieces of DESIGN TAPE, then started to adhere various elements from the collections EPHEMERA THRIFT SHOP and LAYERS EPHEMERA COLLECTOR using DISTRESS COLLAGE MEDIUM 'VINTAGE'. Once everything was in place and covered with another layer of collage medium, in order to avoid visible brush strokes I spread it with my fingers with a circular motion. The brown tinted gel gives the project a Vintage and Old style look that I truly love!

Una volta asciutto ho scurito i bordi e dato risalto ai vari elementi con i DISTRESS CRAYONS.
Di solito non uso colori troppo accesi, ed infatti anche in questo caso, specie per mantenere l'effetto Vintage ho preferito usare: FOSSILIZED AMBER, RUSTY HINGE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, BLACK SOOT. Per aggiungere dei tocchi di luce qua e là ho usato il PICKET FENCE.
Poi ho appoggiato lo STENCIL 'INDUSTRIAL' sulla tag e con una salviettina quasi asciutta ho 'tolto' il colore in alcuni punti. L'effetto sullo sfondo scuro è molto sottile ma mi piace.
Con la stessa salviettina ho ripassato alcune zone per schiarire lo sfondo e far intravedere meglio alcuni elementi.

Once dry I enhanced the edges of the collaged pieces with DISTRESS CRAYONS.
I usually do not use bold colors, in fact in order to keep the Vintage look I have used: FOSSILIZED AMBER, RUSTY HINGE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, BLACK SOOT. To add highlights I have used PICKET FENCE in few spots.
With an almost dry baby wipe and LAYERING STENCIL INDUSTRIAL I have lifted some color...it's very subtle but I really like the effect against the dark background.
I have also used the baby wipe to scrub off the color here and there, revealing the background underneath even more.

Ora...potevo fermarmi qui? Certo che no! Quindi ho costruito altri strati con gli EPHEMERA per preparare il sostegno per la mia BASEBOARD DOLL.
Dopo aver usato il DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT lungo il bordo sinistro per accentuare l'ombra ho seguito i contorni del vestito e del cappello con una embossing pen e poi ho usato le DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE SPECKLED EGG e RUSTY HINGE.
Ho aggiunto ancora il DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT sul vestito del gentiluomo per un look ancora più 'rovinato' ed infine l'ho incollata con la COLLA NUVO.

Ho coperto una METAL WORD BAND con il DISTRESS CRAYON PICKET FENCE, e poi con uno straccio ho tolto l'eccesso e l'ho legata alla tag con dello spago.
Ho invecchiato l'anello di rinforzo per il foro della tag usando i DISTRESS CRAYONS VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, RUSTY HINGE, BLACK SOOT e PEACOCK FEATHERS per creare l'effetto patina.
Come tocco finale ho incollato un CLIPPING sticker ed una MINI PAPER CLIP.

Now...could I stop here? Of course not! Hence I built more layers using other EPHEMERA bits and pieces to prepare the perfect spot where to place my BASEBOARD DOLL.
After scribbling DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT onto its side, to deepen the shadows, I have covered the areas that I wanted to 'glaze' with an embossing pen, then sprinkled with DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE SPECKLED EGG, for the dress and RUSTY HINGE for the hat and heat set them.
I've added more DISTRESS CRAYON BLACK SOOT on the gent's dress to add to the worn look, then glued it in place using NUVO GLUE

I've covered a METAL WORD BAND with DISTRESS CRAYON PICKET FENCE, then scrubbed off the excess to highlight the words and added to the tag with some twine.
I've 'aged' the hole reinforcer using DISTRESS CRAYONS VINTAGE PHOTO, WALNUT STAIN, RUSTY HINGE, BLACK SOOT and PEACOCK FEATHERS to create the patina effect.
As final touches I added a CLIPPING Sticker and a MINI PAPER CLIP.

This week's theme is 'FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS' and I have decided to play a little with my DYLUSIONS JOURNAL.

So che generalmente quando si pensa agli amici a 4 zampe ci vengono in mente cani e gatti...ma da quando ho letto il prompt della settimana non ho fatto altro che pensare al bellissimo timbro di Tim Holtz 'ON THE FARM'...sarà che evoca immagini della pittura Country Primitive che io adoro, sarà che mi piace pensare fuori dagli schemi comunque il risultato finale è questa pagina di Art Journal.

I know that usually, when people thinks about 4 legged friends, cats and dogs come to mind...but since I have learnt about this week's prompt I couldn't take my mind off the beautiful stamp set 'ON THE FARM' by Tim Holtz...maybe it's because it makes me think of Country Primitive painting, that I adore...maybe it's because I like to think outside the box...anyway the final result is this Art Journal page.

Dopo aver steso uno strato di gesso bianco sulla pagina ho iniziato a costruire lo sfondo utilizzando i DISTRESS STAINS, SPECKLED EGG, RUSTY HINGE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, FRAYED BURLAP, PICKET FENCE, alcuni in formato SPRAY e altri con l'applicatore in spugna. Ho spruzzato il colore su un pezzo di acetato e poi l'ho premuto sulla pagina, tamponando l'eccesso con della carta da cucina ed asciugando tra un colore e l'altro. Nel caso degli Stains con l'applicatore ho semplicemente premuto sull'acetato per fare uscire il colore e poi spruzzato con acqua.
Ho usato lo stesso metodo anche con i DISTRESS OXIDE INKS FRAYED BURLAP e PEACOCK FEATHERS.

After covering my page with a layer of white gesso I have started to build my background using DISTRESS STAINS, SPECKLED EGG, RUSTY HINGE, PEACOCK FEATHERS, FRAYED BURLAP, PICKET FENCE, some of them SPRAY and others with a dabber. I sprayed the color on a piece of acetate and then pressed it onto the page, lifting off the excess with a paper towel and drying in between colors. When using the stains with a dabber I simply pressed it onto the acetate until I had the right amount of color and then spritzed with water.
I have used the same technique with DISTRESS OXIDE INKS FRAYED BURLAP and PEACOCK FEATHERS.

Con il DISTRESS OXIDE INK BLACK SOOT ho aggiunto delle timbrate allo sfondo, usando i set 'THE PROFESSOR 2' e 'FADED TYPE' di Tim Holtz.
Non importa se le timbrate non sono perfette perchè servono solo a creare uno sfondo interessante.

Using DISTRESS OXIDE INK BLACK SOOT and 'THE PROFESSOR 2' and 'FADED TYPE' stamp sets by Tim Holtz I added more details to the background.
It doesn't matter if the images are not crisp or perfect because I only need them to add more interest to the page.

Ho continuato a giocare con lo sfondo aggiungendo della texture con il LAYERING STENCIL 'TYPO' e la GRIT PASTE.

I kept playing with the background adding some texture using the LAYERING STENCIL 'TYPO' and GRIT PASTE.

Con il VERSAFINE 'ONYX BLACK' ho timbrato i soggetti principali per il progetto dal set 'ON THE FARM' di Tim Holtz, poi ho deciso di creare delle 'ephemera' usando i timbri già elencati: è un modo veloce per creare strati per lo sfondo. Ho dato alle immagini un tocco vintage usando i DISTRESS INKS ANTIQUE LINEN, VINTAGE PHOTO, GROUND ESPRESSO, BLACK SOOT.

 Dopo aver ritagliato la 'coccarda' l'ho colorata con DISTRESS INK ANTIQUE LINEN, CRACKLING CAMPFIRE, AGED MAHOGANY.

Infine con le dita ho passato uno strato di DISTRESS MICRO GLAZE su tutto e poi ho 'lucidato' con un panno pulito.

With VERSAFINE 'ONYX BLACK' I stamped the animal from the stamp set 'ON THE FARM' by Tim Holtz, then I decided to create my own 'ephemera' using the stamp sets above mentionned: it's a simple and fun way to create layers for the background. I gave the images a vintage look using DISTRESS INKS ANTIQUE LINEN, VINTAGE PHOTO, GROUND ESPRESSO, BLACK SOOT.

After fussy-cutting the 'prize ribbon' I added color with DISTRESS INK ANTIQUE LINEN, CRACKLING CAMPFIRE, AGED MAHOGANY.

Finally I spread a thin layer of DISTRESS MICRO GLAZE on the images, using my finger, then 'buffed' them with a clean cloth.

Ho quindi prenuto il DISTRESS OXIDE INK CRACKLING CAMPFIRE direttamente sul LAYERING MINI STENCIL 'Digits' del SET #48, spruzzato con acqua e premuto sulla pagina, tamponando con un pezzo di carta. Il colore a contrato ed il motivo dello stencil appena accennato donano un tocco in più alla composizione.

I pressed DISTRESS OXIDE INK CRACKLING CAMPFIRE onto LAYERING MINI STENCIL 'Digits' from SET #48, spritzed with water and placed it on the page, dabbing with a paper towel. The contrasting color and the subtle details of the stencil add even more interest to the composition.

Ho incollato il vari pezzi con la COLLA NUVO, aggiungendo degli accenti con i CLIPPINGS Stickers, una INDEX CLIP ed una MEMO PIN.
Ho inoltre timbrato due scritte dal set 'TINY TEXT' ed aggiunte alla pagina.
Ecco qualche dettaglio.

I glued everything in place using NUVO GLUE, adding few accents such as CLIPPINGS Stickers, an INDEX CLIP and a MEMO PIN.
I also stamped two phrases from the stamp set 'TINY TEXT' and added to the page.

Simon Says... TAG IT!

Ciao a tutti e bentornati su queste pagine! Senza dilungarmi troppo, che già questo post sarà lunghetto, passo a presentarvi la mia versione della SFIDA DEL LUNEDI' sul Blog di SIMON SAYS STAMP: TAG IT! - Cioè la sfida della settimana è fare una Tag, ed i prodotti nello spotlight sono quelli di Tim Holtz.. ma daiiii...ditelo che mi stavate aspettando...he he he...

Without further ado, since this will be a quite long post, here's my take on this week's challenge on SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE Blog: TAG IT! - I mean, guys...the challenge is to make a Tag, showcasing Tim Holtz products? C'mon...say it...you were waiting for me, right? he he he....

Per questo progetto ho usato una Mini Tag Etcetera, che tanto mini non è visto che misura circa 20,5 x 11,5 cm, cioè 8x4 1/2 inches. L'ho ricoperta con un foglio di Worn Wallpaper usando il Distress Collage Medium Vintage, ho ritagliato l'eccesso e distressato i bordi con carta vetrata.

Ho aggiunto alcune pennellate di Medium qua e là per aumentare il tocco Vintage, e poi ho ricoperto tutto con Gesso Clear, per togliere l'effetto lucido - che a me personalmente non piace, specie su progetti dai toni Vintage come questo, ma ripeto è un gusto personale, quindi potete saltare questo step.

For this project I have used an Etcetera Mini Tag, which is not mini at all, since measures 8"x4 1/2".

I covered with a sheet of Worn Wallpaper using Distress Collage Medium Vintage to adhere it. Cut out the excess and distressed the edges with sand paper. Added few more strokes of Medium to enhance the Vintage look, and once dry covered everything with Clear Gesso, to erase the 'shine effect' - I don't really like a shiny look expecially on Vintage projects, but it's just personal taste, so if it doesn't bother you, just skip this step.

Per il passo successivo ho aggiunto dei dettagli con lo stencil e la pasta stencil, fatto asciugare e poi dei pezzi di design tape in alcuni punti

For the next step I added few details using Roses Stencil and stenci paste, let that air dry and then added few pieces of design tape.

Ho poi timbrato le rose dal set 'Lady Rose' con il Versafine Onyx Black e le ho colorate una prima volta con il D.I. Victorian Velvet ed un pennello a serbatoio.

I stamped the roses from the stamp set 'Lady Rose' using Versafine ink Onyx Black, then added some colour using D.I. Victorian Velvet and a water brush.

Con il blending tool ho passato una mano leggera di D.I. Vintage Photo sulle immagini e poi ho intensificato il colore con Victorian Velvet e le ombre con i pastelli Polychromos Dark Sepia e Black Soft.

With a blending tool I added a light layer of  D.I. Vintage Photo on the stamped images, then deepened the colour with Victorian Velvet and shadows using Polychromos pastels Dark Sepia and Black Soft.

Ho aggiunto un po' di colore alla Tag, prima con il D.O. spray Victorian Velvet, aggiunto acqua e fatto colare. Asciugato, tamponato eccesso e poi ho aggiunto D.O. Pumice Stone e Frayed Burlap, premendo su un pezzo di acetato, spruzzato con acqua e premuto a sua volta sulla tag in vari punti.

Fatto asciugare molto bene e poi ho usato i Distress Crayons Vintage Photo e Black Soot per scurire il design tape, le parti in rilievo ed i bordi della Tag.

Added some colour with D.O. spray Victorian Velvet, spritzed with water to let it run a bit, then dried and lifted the excess of water with a paper towel, then 'smushed' D.O. Pumice Stone and Frayed Burlap on a piece of acetate, added water and pressed onto the tag, here and there. Let it dry very well, then with Distress Crayons Vintage Photo and Black Soot darkened around the design tape, the raised bits and along the borders of the Tag.

Per ultimo ho fustellato questa cornice, coperta con gesso nero, poi ho aggiunto i D.C. metallics Tarnished Brass e Antiqued Bronze, con qualche tocco di Black Soot per dare l'idea dell'invecchiato.

As final touch, I die cut this frame, covered with black gesso and then with D.C. metallics Tarnished Brass and Antiqued Bronze, with few touches of Black Soot, for a worn look.

Ho poi assemblato il tutto, ritagliando le rose, aggiungendo della garza e dei pezzi di pizzo, una farfalla dal set Ephemera Thrift Shop, ed infine una Baseboard Doll (sono le nuove Paper Dolls in versione rinforzata ed ovviamente le adoro!)  ed una Quote Chip per finire il tutto.

Started to assemble all the pieces: fussy cut the roses, added some gauze, scraps of lace , a butterfly from the Ephemera pack Thrift Shop, a Baseboard Doll (which is a thicker and sturdier version of Paper Dolls, and obviously totally love them!) and a Quote Chip as final touch.

#12MMITags Dicembre 2019 - Winter Wishes

Ciao a tutti! Ma ci credete che siamo già ad un passo da Natale? Io veramente non so dove finisca il tempo...sono sempre in ritardo con tutto! He he he...
Comunque eccoci qui, con l'ultima Tag delle #12MMITags del Gruppo Facebook Mixed Medi@ Italia (che a dire il vero sono 11, perchè in estate abbiamo unito 2 mesi...eh va beh dai...licenza poetica!) E' stato un bellissimo viaggio con il nostro gruppo, culminato con una fantastica sorpresa che alcune delle amiche hanno fatto a noi Admin...un calendario dell'avvento tutto 'Made in Mixed Media'...scoprire ogni giorno una 'casellina' nuova, con relativo lavoro fatto con il cuore mi ha riempito di gioia e soddisfazione...e mi ha fatto versare pure qualche lacrima di commozione. Grazie ancora ragazze...siete magnifiche...
Ed ora...basta con le chiacchere e sotto con il tutorial...

Hello everyone! Can you believe it? Christmas day it's almost here...how is it possible that time flies away so much...I'm always late with everything!
Anyway...here's the last Tag of the year for the Facebook Group Mixed Medi@ Italia - #12MMITags - December 2019 (ok...technically they are 11, as for July and August we asked for a single tag... well let's say it's a 'poetic licence')-
So...without further ado...let's start with the tutorial:

Ho iniziato a decorare la Tag con il Distress Oxide Candied Apple e lo stencil di Tim Holtz Holiday Knit, scurendo alcune parti con il D.O. Aged Mahogany. Poi ho steso la pasta Stencil Light di TommyArt usando lo stencil Holiday Script, sempre di Tim Holtz.

I started my background using Distress Oxide Candied Apple and Tim Holtz Layering stencil Holiday Knit, darkening in few spots with D.O. Aged Mahogany. Then added texture with TommyArt Light stencil paste and T.H. Holiday Script stencil.

Quando la pasta era ben asciutta, ho iniziato a spruzzare con gli inchiostri spray di Lindy's Stamp Gang: prima con Flat Fabio Rizzo's Rowdy Red, poi con lo Starburst Poinsettia Red Gold.
Ho asciugato bene, poi ho schizzato la Tag con Uniposca Bianco ed Oro.

When dry I sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gand inks: Flat Fabio Rizzo's Rowdy Red and Starburst Poinsettia Red Gold, dried again then spattered with White and Gold Posca pens.

E qui mi sono scordata di fare le foto...allooora....ho aggiunto del washi tape, dei fermacampioni a forma di fiocco di neve, un pezzetto di carta dal set Winter Tales della 13@rts, degli Ephemera a tema Natale e li ho fermati con la graffatrice. A parte ho fustellato ed embossato il Fiocco di neve con la fustella Tim Holtz Layered Snowflake (che viene venduta con il relativo embossing folder) usando un cartoncino di recupero: ho ricoperto con Heavy Black Gesso di Finnabair, poi ho usato le cere Metallique Old Silver e Vintage Gold per dare luce. Ho incollato il fiocco di neve, la Paper Doll e la Quote Chip natalizia. Ho aggiunto uno sticker ed un charm della linea Idea-ology di Tim Holtz.
E la Tag è finita!

Obviously I forgot to take pictures of the next steps....soooo....I added design tape, few snowflakes brads, built my layers using scraps from design paper Winter Tales by 13@rts, and Idea-ology Christmas Ephemera and stapled them onto the Tag. I die cut and embossed a scrap of cardboard using Tim Holtz Layered Snowflake Bigz die, covered with Heavy Black Gesso by Finnabair, and added highlights with Art Alchemy Metallique waxes Old Silver and Vintage Gold.
Glued the snowflake, the Paper Doll, a Christmas Quote Chip, then added finishing touches with a Metallic sticker and an Idea-ology Adornment charm.
And that's all!

Ciao a tutti e bentornati su queste pagine! Oggi volevo mostrarvi la Tag che ho preparato per le #12MMITags di Ottobre, sfida mensile del Gruppo FacebookMixed Medi@ Italia.

Sotto potrete vedere la Moodboard di ispirazione...adoro i colori autunnali, le zucche, Halloween..insomma l'autunno è la mia stagione.

Ho deciso inoltre di partecipare con questa Tag alla sfida del Lunedì sul Blog diSimon Says Stamp, visto che il tema è 'FALL/AUTUMN'. Per completare l'opera i prodotti nello spotlight sono quelli di TIM HOLTZ, quindi non vedevo l'ora...

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today I would like to show you the Tag for October, made for the #12MMITags monthly challenge on the Facebook Group Mixed Medi@ Italia.

You will find the inspirational Moodboard here below...I love Fall colours, pumpkins, Halloween...what can I say...Autumn is my Season.

Besides I have decided to submit this Tag to the Monday Challenge over at SimonSays Stamp Blog, since the theme is 'FALL/AUTUMN' . Moreover they showcase TIM HOLTZ products, so I really couldn't wait...

Iniziamo! Ho usato del cartoncino pesante per acquerello, poi ho 'costruito' il mio background usando rimasugli di pagine di libro, del washi tape e collage paper, incollandoli con un medium per collage.

Dopodichè ho aggiunto texture con pasta Stencil light ed uno stencil e quando asciutto ho fatto cadere delle gocce di Distress Resist Spray (che una volta asciutto 'resiste' al colore aggiunto successivamente) per creare più interesse.

Let's start! I have used heavy cardstock for watercolour, then built my background glueing scraps of book pages, designer tape and collage paper using Collage Medium.

Afterwards I added texture using stencil and light Stencil paste, let dry and added Distress Resist spray to add more interest.

Come colori ho usato i Distress Oxide Sprays, nei toni caldi dell'autunno (Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade e Vintage Photo), diluendo con acqua. Ho asciugato bene e poi ho timbrato qua e là, aggiungendo qualche dettaglio in più.

I have used Distress Oxide Sprays, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo, spritzing with water to move the colour, let dry and added few details, stamping here and there.

Poi, come capita spesso, ho deciso di fare qualche prova e giocare un po': ho usato delle foglie fustellate, le ho colorate con vari Distress, poi le ho incollate sulla parte sinistra della Tag, e dopo avere tamponato con un tampone per embossing, ho coperto con la Baked Texture Vintage Beeswax, ho riscaldato ancora con l'embosser ed ho fatto cadere anche un po' di Chunky Rust in alcuni punti. Adoro l'effetto finale.

Then, as usual, I have decided to play and experiment a bit: I have glued 3 die cut leaves, coloured with Distress inks, then 'stamped' with an embossing pad and covered with Baked Texture Vintage Beeswax, heated again with the heat tool and added few flecks of Baked Texture Chunky Rust. I love the result.

Ora non rimane che assemblare il tutto: ho usato degli Ephemera, della garza, filo, Paper Dolls e stickers e per finire nastro e charms in metallo.

Now let's build the focal point: I have used Ephemera, gauze, thread, Paper Dolls, stickers, a ribbon and metal charms.
