SIMON SAYS...EMBOSS IT!

Ciao a tutti e bentrovati! Eccoci infine all'ultima settimana della mia avventura di Guest Designer per SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG...E' stato un onore far parte, anche se per solo un mese, di questo meraviglioso Team e ringrazio di cuore LORRAINE AQUILINA e tutti gli amici di SIMON SAYS STAMP per questa opportunità!    Quindi senza ulteriori indugi, tuffiamoci insieme in questa nuova Sfida...il tema della settimana è EMBOSS IT!

Per queste Tag ho usato varie tecniche di Embossing, sia con Embossing Folders che usando polveri per embossing, e poi qualche esperimento, giusto per divertirmi un po'...   Ecco a voi quindi il mio progetto della settimana. Come sempre troverete l'elenco dei materiali usati ed il link allo Store di SIMON SAYS STAMP in fondo al post.

Hello everyone! Here we are to the last week of my adventure as Guest Designer for SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG...It's been a true honor to be part, even for only a month, of this amazing Team and I truly thank LORRAINE AQUILINA and all the friends at SIMON SAYS STAMP for this opportunity!        Now, without further ado...let's dive together into this new Challenge...this weeks' theme is EMBOSS IT!

For these Tags I have used different Embossing techniques, such as Embossing Folders and powders, and also a bit of experiments, just to have some fun...    So here's my project for the week. As always you will find the list of the products used and the link to SIMON SAYS STAMP STORE at the end of this post.

Per questo progetto ho utilizzato 4 Tags di 2 misure diverse, una un po' più grande dell'altra e come base del cartoncino per acquerello da 300gr.   Ho iniziato timbrando sulle Tag più grandi dei numeri presi dal set di timbri 'FADED TYPE' di TIM HOLTZ in diversi punti, con il DISTRESS OXIDE INK PAD 'FOSSILIZED AMBER' e con l'inchiostro ancora fresco ho coperto le timbrate con EMBOSSING POWDER 'CLEAR' e fissato con l'embosser.

Ho quindi aggiunto il colore con degli spray, però ho deciso di sperimentare un po', quindi nella Tag 1 (nella foto a sinistra) ho spruzzato il DISTRESS SPRAY STAIN 'SALVAGED PATINA', diluito con 1 spruzzo di acqua leggero, fatto 'camminare' il colore muovendo la tag ed asciugato bene.    Poi ho aggiunto il DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY 'UNCHARTED MARINER' e spruzzato con acqua, facendo colare il colore sul mio GLASS MEDIA MAT, ho asciugato leggermente e poi ho picchiettato la tag nelle gocce di colore rimaste sul vetro ed asciugato di nuovo.   Spruzzato con DISTRESS SPRITZ 'SALVAGED PATINA' che lascia bellissime tracce di mica. asciugato e fatto cadere delle gocce di DISTRESS SPRITZ 'FOSSILIZED AMBER'.

Nella Tag n.2 (nella foto a destra) ho usato solo colore, niente acqua. Quindi spruzzato prima con DISTRESS SPRAY STAIN ' SALVAGED PATINA', fatto muovere il colore sulla tag e poi spruzzato subito con DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY 'UNCHARTED MARINER', facendo scendere l'inchiostro in eccesso sul GLASS MEDIA MAT. Ho asciugato e poi trascinato la tag nel colore rimasto, cercando di 'raccogliere' più colore possibile. Asciugato poi ho usato i DISTRESS SPRITZ come nella Tag n.1.

For this project I have used 2 Tags size #8 and 2 Tags size #5, cut from watercolor cardstock.

Starting with the #8 Tags, I stamped them with the 'numbers' stamp from the set 'FADED TYPE' by TIM HOLTZ, using DISTRESS OXIDE INK PAD 'FOSSILIZED AMBER', then when the ink is still wet I covered the stamped images with EMBOSSING POWDER 'CLEAR' and heat set it.

I then added some colors with sprays, but I decided to experiment a bit, so with Tag #1 (the one on the left in the picture below) I added DISTRESS SPRAY STAIN 'SALVAGED PATINA', lightly diluted with one spritz of water, made the ink run around, tilting the tag and dried it well.   Then added DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY 'UNCHARTED MARINER' and spritzed with water, letting the ink drop on my GLASS MEDIA MAT, dried it a bit the tapped the tag into the drops of ink left on the mat, then dried it well.  Once dry I sprayed with DISTRESS SPRITZ 'SALVAGED PATINA' which leaves lovely sparks of mica, dried it well and finally flicked with drops of DISTRESS SPRITZ 'FOSSILIZED AMBER'.

In Tag #2 (on the right in the picture below) I have used only undiluted ink, no water whatsoever.   Same colors as before, only after spraying with DISTRESS SPRAY STAIN ' SALVAGED PATINA', I let the ink move a bit and while still wet sprayed with DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY 'UNCHARTED MARINER', dripping the excess ink on the GLASS MEDIA MAT.    I dried it then dragged the tag through the leftover ink, trying to pick it up. Dried it again and then used the two DISTRESS SPRITZ just like for Tag #1.

 

Con il MINI STENCIL THMS145 (che fa parte del set #48) ed il DISTRESS OXIDE INK 'UNCHARTED MARINER' ho aggiunto qualche dettaglio in più, tono su tono.

Using MINI STENCIL THMS145 (part of the SET #48) and DISTRESS OXIDE INK 'UNCHARTED MARINER' I added few details here and there, tone-on-tone

 

Ho inoltre aggiunto un dettaglio in più nella Tag n.1, cioè una timbrata con il set 'THE PROFESSOR 2', con il MINI DISTRESS EMBOSSING INK e DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA' e poi fissato con embosser.

I further added more detail in Tag #1 using a stamp from the set 'THE PROFESSOR 2'. Stamped with MINI DISTRESS EMBOSSING INK then covered the image with DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA' and heat set it.

Per le Tag più piccole, ho aggiunto della texture sempre con il MINI STENCIL THMS145 e la DISTRESS GRIT PASTE 'OPAQUE'. Mentre la pasta era ancora 'umida' ci ho fatto cadere sopra della DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA' e poi ho usato un embosser per fissare la polvere ed asciugare la pasta. Se non volete che la pasta inizi a fare delle 'bolle' e a gonfiarsi, non usate un calore troppo forte, né state troppo vicini mentre usate l'embosser.

A me invece questo effetto piace e quindi mi sono divertita a giocare con il calore e le varie consistenze.

For the Tags size #5 I added texture always with MINI STENCIL THMS145 and DISTRESS GRIT PASTE 'OPAQUE'. While the paste was still wet I sprinkled it with DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA' and heat set it. If you don't want your paste start bubbling then do not use your heat tool too close to the surface, try to alternate drying from underneath the tag and then keep moving all over the surface.

Truth is...I love the 'puffy' effect so I had fun trying to get different textures.

Usando lo stesso timbro dal set 'FADED TYPE' che avevo usato nelle Tag grandi, ho aggiunto delle timbrate anche qui, usando il MINI DISTRESS EMBOSSING INK e il DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA', e poi fissato con embosser.   Infine ho aggiunto il colore spruzzando prima con DISTRESS SPRITZ 'FOSSILIZED AMBER', asciugato e poi spruzzato con DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY 'UNCHARTED MARINER', 1 spruzzo d'acqua leggero e poi asciugato bene. Una volta asciutto prendere un foglio di carta da cucina e premendo sopra la parte in rilievo, sfregare leggermente per togliere l'eccesso di inchiostro che rimane dopo l'asciugatura, dal momento che la pasta causa un effetto che si chiama 'resist'  e quindi non assorbe l'inchiostro.

Using the same 'numbers' stamp, just like in the #8 size Tags, 'FADED TYPE', I added more details, stamping with MINI DISTRESS EMBOSSING INK and then covered with DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA' and heat set it.     Finally I added a bit of color spraying first with DISTRESS SPRITZ 'FOSSILIZED AMBER', dried it then sprayed with DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAY 'UNCHARTED MARINER', lightly spritzed with water then dried it well. Once dry take a piece of kitchen paper and press it lightly on the raised part, rub lightly over the paper in a circular motion to lift the excess of ink that remains from the 'resist' effect caused by the paste.

Ora non resta che preparare gli elementi decorativi per finire le Tag!

Usando un foglio di 8x8 della linea IDEA-OLOGY PAPER STASH 'BLACK' KRAFT STOCK, ne ho embossato una parte usando il 3D TEXTURE FADES EMBOSSING FOLDER 'NUMBERED', il resto l'ho utilizzato per fustellare dei numeri con il set di THINLITS 'COUNTDOWN' e ho utilizzato il retro (che è appunto color Kraft) per creare delle ali con 3D IMPRESSLITS CUT&EMBOSS FOLDER 'WINGED'.

Now it's time to create the decorative elements for the Tags!

I have used a sheet of IDEA-OLOGY 8x8 PAPER STASH 'BLACK' KRAFT STOCK, a part of it   I have embossed it with 3D TEXTURE FADES EMBOSSING FOLDER 'NUMBERED', with the rest I die cut some numbers with THINLITS DIES 'COUNTDOWN' and created the wings using the back of the paper, which is kraft colored, with 3D IMPRESSLITS CUT&EMBOSS FOLDER 'WINGED'.

Le ali le ho spruzzate con DISTRESS SPRITZ 'FOSSILIZED AMBER' e una volta asciutte ho ripassato i bordi con acrilico bianco ed un pennello asciutto.

I sprayed the wings with DISTRESS SPRITZ 'FOSSILIZED AMBER' and once dry, I used a dry, scruffy brush and a little bit of white acrylic paint over the edges.

Ho ritagliato dal foglio embossato con 'NUMBERED' i numeri 3 e 0, poi con della carta vetrata a grana fine ho 'rovinato' il cartoncino nero, per far intravedere la parte kraft, quindi ho spruzzato con DISTRESS SPRITZ 'SALVAGED PATINA' e mentre l'inchiostro era ancora bagnato ho fatto cadere un po' di DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA' che sul nero non si vede molto, ma una volta asciugato con un embosser aggiunge un tocco di interesse in più al tutto.

From the 'NUMBERED' embossed paper I cut out the numbers 3 and 0, then lightly distressed the pieces (also the die cut numbers) using fine-grit sand paper, then sprayed with DISTRESS SPRITZ 'SALVAGED PATINA' and while still wet sprinkled them with DISTRESS EMBOSSING GLAZE 'SALVAGED PATINA', which even if you cannot' see it on the black cardstock, once heat set it, gives the pieces a bit of gloss that I find overall interesting.

Per creare i sentiment da mettere sulle tag ho timbrato un paio di frasi dal timbro 'TINY TEXT' con il DISTRESS OXIDE INK 'UNCHARTED MARINER' su cartoncino per acquerello.   Infine ho incollato le tag più piccole su quelle grandi leggermente sfalsate, ho aggiunto delle PAPER DOLLS, poi per differenziare un po' le 2 tag, ho reso una più 'mascolina' aggiungendo una LOOP PIN e un STORY STICK di metallo, mentre l'altra è resa più femminile dalla dolcissima bimba e le sue ali d'angelo.

Ecco il risultato...

For the sentiments I stamped a couple of phrases from the stamp set 'TINY TEXT' using DISTRESS OXIDE INK 'UNCHARTED MARINER' on a piece of watercolor cardstock.    Finally I attached the smaller tag on the bigger one, off center, added a couple of PAPER DOLLS, then to enhance the difference between them, on the more 'masculine' one, I added a LOOP PIN with a STORY STICK charm, while the other has a feminine vibe with the sweet little girl and her shimmering angel wings.

Here's the results...

Ciao a tutti e bentrovati per questa nuova settimana in compagnia della Sfida del Lunedì sul Blog di SIMON SAYS STAMP...Oggi il tema della nostra Sfida è LET'S ART JOURNAL!

Adoro creare pagine nei miei vari Journals, ne ho diversi, hand made oppure comprati già impaginati, con pagine grandi o formati mini, la cosa importante da ricordare quando abbiamo a che fare con un Art Journal è che non ci sono regole! L'importante è esprimere voi stessi, quindi usate acrilici, inchiostri, timbri, stencil, pastelli... qualsiasi cosa vi permetta di liberare la vostra creatività!

Ecco a voi quindi il mio progetto della settimana...

Hello everyone and welcome back for a new week with  SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE...Today's theme is LET'S ART JOURNAL!

I love to create pages in my different Journals, I have quite a few of them, both hand made and ready made, big or tiny...the most important thing to remember when you are dealing with an Art Journal is that...there are NO rules! You simply have to express yourselves, so use acrylic paints, inks, stamps, stencils, pencils whatever enables you to unleash your creativity!

So here's my project...

Per prima cosa ho incollato dei pezzi di TISSUE PAPER in modo del tutto causale sulle pagine, usando il DISTRESS COLLAGE MEDIUM MATTE.   Mi sono fatta guidare dall'istinto ed ho coperto le 2 pagine del Journal, in modo anche caotico ma non importa perché sto semplicemente creando le basi per il mio sfondo.

In order to build my background I simply glued pieces of TISSUE PAPER on the pages using DISTRESS COLLAGE MEDIUM MATTE.    I let my instinct guide me and covered both pages of my spread, in a very casual and VERY messy way, but it just doesn't matter because this is simply the starting point of my background.

Una volta asciutta la colla, con un vecchio pennello asciutto ho coperto il tutto con gesso bianco, lasciando intravedere qua e là le immagini sottostanti.

Once everything is dry, using an old scruffy brush I cover the surface with white gesso. It's ok to be messy and let the base see through.

Ed ora aggiungiamo il colore...Ho preparato la base spruzzando con i DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAYS TWISTED CITRON, CRACKED PISTACHIO, PICKED RASPBERRY e ABANDONED CORAL. Solo colore, niente acqua ed asciugando tra un colore e l'altro.   Una volta soddisfatta ho spruzzato dell'acqua su una porzione della pagina, ho appoggiato lo stencil LOTZA PLUSEZ e tamponato con un pezzo di carta da cucina, per togliere un po' di colore.    Ho ripetuto il procedimento su tutto lo Spread e poi ho asciugato bene.    Ho quindi appoggiato lo stencil GRUNGE e tolto il colore con una salviettina umidificata.

Asciugato di nuovo e poi con gli stessi stencil ho aggiunto altro colore usando i DISTRESS OXIDE INK PADS TWISTED CITRON, CRACKED PISTACHIO, ABANDONED CORAL e PICKED RASPBERRY.     Una volta asciutto bene, ho usato gli stessi colori ed aggiunto delle timbrate usando 2 set di timbri WAY WITH WORDS e FADED TYPE di TIM HOLTZ. Ho cercato di fare delle timbrate 'tono-su-tono' per aggiungere interesse allo sfondo, ma in modo sottile.

Now it's finally time to add colors...First I sprayed the surface with DISTRESS OXIDE SPRAYS TWISTED CITRON, CRACKED PISTACHIO, PICKED RASPBERRY and ABANDONED CORAL.   No water, just spray a color in a few places on both pages then dry well, then repeat the same with another color.     Once satisfied spritz with water on a section of the page, place the STENCIL LOTZA PLUSEZ and dab with a paper towel to lift a bit of color. Repeat in other few places then dry.   Then place the STENCIL GRUNGE and lift the color using a wet baby wipe. Dry again.

Using the same STENCILS I added more color with DISTRESS OXIDE INK PADS TWISTED CITRON, CRACKED PISTACHIO, ABANDONED CORAL and PICKED RASPBERRY.    Once dry I used the same ink pads to add stamping here and there with TIM HOLTZ 'WAY WITH WORDS' and 'FADED TYPE' stamp sets. I tried to stamp 'tone-on-tone', to add more interest to the background but in a subtle way.

Qualche dettaglio..... A few details....

Ho rinforzato il colore in alcuni punti utilizzando gli acrilici DINA WAKLEY PAPAYA, LIME, MINTY semplicemente facendo cadere delle gocce di colore e stendendolo con le dita.

I added a bit of 'Oomph' in a few places with DINA WAKLEY MEDIA ACRYLIC PAINTS PAPAYA, LIME and MINTY, simply let a tiny bit of color fall on the page and move it around with my fingers.

Ho utilizzato il DISTRESS OXIDE INK PAD BLACK SOOT per aggiungere delle timbrate a contrasto, usando il timbro ECLECTICA 3 EM141, FADED TYPE e WAY WITH WORDS, poi una volta asciutto, con un pennello asciutto ho aggiunto delle pennellate di gesso nero (va bene anche dell'acrilico nero) lungo i bordi, sopra alcune zone timbrate e poi nel mezzo delle pagine, per simulare l'effetto della carta vetrata che toglie il colore in superficie.

Ho poi aggiunto dei pezzi di WASHI TAPE e poi ho ripassato i bordi del nastro con i DISTRESS CRAYONS TWISTED CITRON, SPICED MARMALADE, PICKED RASPBERRY, PEACOCK FEATHERS e BLACK SOOT per integrarli meglio con lo sfondo.

I added some stamping with ECLECTICA 3 EM141, FADED TYPE and WAY WITH WORDS using DISTRESS OXIDE INK PAD BLACK SOOT to add a bit of contrast, then once everything is dry I used an old dry brush to add black gesso, but you could use also black acrylic paint, all around the borders, around and over some stamped images and a few touches around the pages... it looks like you distressed the surface with a piece of sand paper and let the black background see through.

I added few strips of WASHI TAPE then went all around the borders of the tape with DISTRESS CRAYONS TWISTED CITRON, SPICED MARMALADE, PICKED RASPBERRY, PEACOCK FEATHERS and BLACK SOOT to subtly incorporate them with the background.

Con l'inchiostro VERSAFINE ONYX BLACK ho timbrato delle immagini dal set ARTIST KIT, direttamente sullo sfondo e poi anche su del cartoncino bianco.   Queste immagini le ho poi ritagliate ed incollate sopra a quelle timbrate in precedenza, aggiunto del filo nero e fatto cadere delle gocce di inchiostro nero.

Poi ho utilizzato come punto focale 2 immagini che fanno parte del MEDIA FOCALS SET 2 TRANSPARENCIES di DINA WAKLEY. (Queste immagini stampate su acetato sono meravigliose, una più bella dell'altra...)

Infine ho scelto delle frasi dal set REVERSE JOURNALING STRIPS come sentiments.   Finito!

Using VERSAFINE INK ONYX BLACK I stamped a couple of images from the STAMP SET 'ARTIST KIT' both on the background and on a piece of spare white cardstock. I then fussy cut the latter and glued them over their counterpart on the pages, added some black thread and spatter all around with black ink.

For my focal points I've used 2 images from DINA WAKLEY MEDIA FOCAL SET 2 TRANSPARENCIES.   (These images printed on acetate are simply amazing, one better than the other...)

Finally I added my chosen Sentiments from SSS REVERSE JOURNALING SENTIMENTS STRIPS.  And voilà...finished!

Hello everyone and welcome back for the third week of this adventure as March's Guest Designer for the SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG.   This week's theme is BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS.     So now...without further ado...here's my project...

Ho deciso di utilizzare del cartoncino kraft e mantenere delle tonalità neutre per poi far risaltare i fiori con dei colori decisi, quindi ho utilizzato il retro di un foglio 8x8 PAPER STASH BLACK KRAFT STOCK della linea IDEA-OLOGY di TIM HOLTZ.    Ho utilizzato il set SHUTTER COGS A6 CLEAR STAMP SET 1227 di AALL&CREATE, timbrato con VERSAFINE INK ONYX BLACK.

I decided to use Kraft cardstock as my base and use neutral tones for my background, in order to make the flowers pop using bright colors, so I simply stamped on the reverse side of a TIM HOLTZ IDEA-OLOGY 8X8 PAPER STASH BLACK KRAFT STOCK, using as my focal point this beautiful AALL&CREATE SHUTTER COGS A6 CLEAR STAMP SET 1227, with VERSAFINE INK ONYX BLACK.

Ho ritagliato il foglio a 15x12,5 cm ed ho aggiunto dei dettagli con i Rub-Ons COGS AND CURIOS di AALL&CREATE (nella confezione ci sono 2 fogli, io ho scelto di utilizzare quello con i colori sul marrone e grigio, per restare sulla tonalità neutra).

I trimmed the paper at 5x6 inches and added details with AALL&CREATE COGS AND CURIOS RUB-ONS (In the set you will find two different sheets, I used the one in the brown/gray tones in order to keep the muted tones)

Aggiunto della texture con DISTRESS GRIT PASTE e lo STENCIL #THMS145 che fa parte del SET #48 di MINI STENCIL di TIM HOLTZ

Added some texture with DISTRESS GRIT PASTE and TIM HOLTZ MINI STENCIL SET #48 (The one I used is THMS145)

Con dell'acrilico bianco e poi con dell'inchiostro nero ho fatto cadere delle gocce sullo sfondo e poi incollato la base su un altro foglio dal PAPER STASH BLACK KRAFT STOCK, questa volta dalla parte nera, dopo averlo ritagliato a 17x14,5 cm e 'distressato' con un pezzo di carta vetrata a grana fine.

With diluted white acrylic paint and then black ink I spattered the card, then glued it on a piece of PAPER STASH BLACK KRAFT STOCK, trimmed at 5 ¾ x 6 ¾ inches and lightly distressed with fine-grit sandpaper.

Ecco qualche dettaglio...

Here's few details...

  

  

Adesso viene la parte divertente...cioè la colorazione! Ho timbrato i soggetti da colorare su del cartoncino per acquerello e poi ho colorato il tutto con i KARIN BRUSHMARKERS PRO.

Ho steso il colore sul GLASS MAT (nella parte bianca con i riquadri) e prelevato il colore con in pennello a serbatoio. Ho steso prima i colori più chiari poi via via quelli più scuri, asciugando tra una passata e l'altra. Vi elenco i colori usati:

Per l'ingranaggio 'grigio' ho usato prima il Neutral Grey 3, poi ombreggiato con Cool Grey 3 ed aggiunto dei tocchi di Royal Blue.

Per l'ingranaggio 'marrone' ho usato Henna, ombreggiato con Sepia e qualche tocco di Cool Grey 3.

Per le foglie Grass come base, poi Rosewood, Lush Green e poi un misto tra Henna e Lush Green.

Per i fiori rossi ho usato Red, Magenta Red ed ombreggiato con Magenta.

Per il resto dei fiori ho iniziato da una base di Soft Peach 1, Gold, poi ho iniziato a scurire con Amber, Orange Red, Magenta Red e Magenta, lasciando sempre intravedere il colore precedente.

Poi ho aggiunto le ombre con il pastello BLACK POLYCHROMOS della FABER-CASTELL, sfumato con degli sfumini di carta.

Now for the fun part, that is coloring! I stamped the images on watercolor cardstock and colored them with KARIN BRUSHMARKERS PRO. I transferred a bit of paint on the white part of my GLASS MAT then used a water brush to apply the color, starting from the lightest to the darkest, drying in between. Here's the list of the colors I used:

For the 'gray' cog I started with Neutral Grey 3, darkened some areas with Cool Grey 3 and touches of Royal Blue.

For the 'brown' cog I used Henna as a base, then shadowed with Sepia and a touch of Cool Grey 3.

For the leaves I used Grass, then Rosewood, Lush Green and then a mix of Henna and Lush Green.

For the red flowers I started with Red, then Magenta Red and shadowed with Magenta.

For the remaining flowers I used Soft Peach 1 as base, added Gold, then started to add Amber, Orange Red, Magenta Red and Magenta, adding less and less color the darker they went, in order to see the other colors underneath.

I then added shadows to everything with FABER-CASTELL POLYCHROMOS BLACK and to soften the hard edges used some paper stumps. 

Ho infine ritagliato le immagini ed assemblato il tutto. Per finire ho aggiunto un sentiment con uno STICKER SMALL TALK IDEA-OLOGY.

Finally I fussy cut everything and added to the background, then to finish I added an IDEA-OLOGY SMALL TALK STICKER as sentiment.
