Holidays Memories...

Ciao a tutti, tra il caldo torrido dei giorni scorsi e la mezza tromba d'aria che si sta abbattendo sulla mia casa in questo momento,  non posso che ripensare con nostalgia alle mie 'Vacanze Greche' appena trascorse...Quest'anno siamo tornati nella splendida isola di KOS, nel Dodecanneso..E' la nostra terza volta nell'isola di Ippocrate, la prima nel lontano 2009, poi nel 2012 e di nuovo quest'anno. Nel corso degli anni abbiamo notato vari cambiamenti, a volte in peggio, spesso dovuti anche a speculazioni ed allarmismi dei media (vedi sbarchi vari dalla vicina Turchia), ma la gente è sempre accogliente e gentile, le spiagge sempre meravigliose, il cibo sempre buonissimo...

Anche quest'anno, come quello scorso, ho tentato 'l'Art Journaling da Viaggio' e....TA-DAA...ci sono riuscita! Ho azzeccato la formula giusta, il giusto equilibrio del materiale da impacchettare ed il formato, quindi tra un bagno e l'altro, tra un labile tentativo di abbronzatura ed un 'Gyro' al volo, ecco il resoconto fotografico del mio Viaggio, creazioni comprese!

Hello everyone, between the Hot Wave of the past days and the sort of 'twister in the making' that is knocking at my door right now, I can't keep myself  from thinking (well longing) of my latest 'Greek Holidays'...This year we visited once again the beautiful KOS, in the Dodecanese...It's our third time in Hippocrates Island, the first during 2009, then 2012 and last this year, in July. Through the years we witnessed a lot of changes, some for the worst, often caused by Media speculations and disinformation (i.e. Immigrants landings from the near Turkey), but locals are always welcoming, generous and kind, beaches are always beautiful, food is always delicious...

Also this time, just like I did last year, I have tried 'Travel Art Journaling' and...TA-DAA...I made it! I managed to find the right balance, between the amount of material to pack, the size and whatnots, so in between swimming, tanning (well more sunburning) and enjoying a Gyro or two, here's to you my Travel pics, including my creations! 

Kastri Beach - Agios Stefanos - Kefalos

Agios Stefanos, verso Kefalos - Bellissima spiaggia di sabbia, con un'acqua cristallina e piuttosto freddina...l'isolotto che si vede di fronte, il Kastri appunto, è il soggetto di quasi tutte le foto che riguardano la zona di Kefalos...pare che porti fortuna se lo si raggiunge a nuoto e si suona la campanella della chiesetta...nel 2009 alcuni temerari o semplicemente migliori nuotatori della sottoscritta, tentavano la 'mitica impresa' e di tanto in tanto si sentiva il suono cristallino della campanella risuonare dal mare...adesso affittano dei pedalò per arrivarci...diciamo che ha perso il lato romantico...

Agios Stefanos, near Kefalos - Beautiful sandy beach, crystal clear water...just a tad cold...the little island sitting in front of this beach, called Kastri, is the chosen subject of almost every picture and postcard of the Kefalos area...apparently it's a good omen to swim to the Kastri and ring the tiny church's bell...in 2009 few brave people or simply better swimmers then myself, tried the 'epic challenge', so now and then you could hear the sound of the bell tolling from the sea...now they rent pedal boats to get there...let's say that the romantic side got lost...

Paleo-christian Basilica of Agios Stefanos

Un'altra attrattiva di questa bella spiaggia sono i resti della Basilica Paleo-cristiana di Agios Stefanos...camminare tra i capitelli e le colonne ed ammirare ciò che rimane dei mosaici  di fronte al mare aperto è meraviglioso, purtroppo questi resti vengono usati spesso per far asciugare i teli mare o addirittura come sedie...la cosa peggiore però è il Club Mediterannée in totale abbandono che sorge attaccato al sito archeologico...il classico eco-mostro di cemento...orribile!

Another perk of this beach are the remains of the Paleo-Christian Basilica of Agios Stefanos...walking through columns and capitels, in front of  the open sea is beautiful, unfortunately the columns are often used as dry-racks for  beach towels or as seats...but the worst thing is the abandoned Club Mediterannée built right on the steps of the Archaeological Site...ugly!

Agios Theologos Beach - Kefalos

Agios Theologos - Dal paese di Kefalos, proseguendo sulla strada, girando a destra al bivio (c'è una bellissima fontana di pietra all'ombra di alberi maestosi) si arriva alla Taverna Agios Theologos ed alla omonima spiaggia...il vento è costante...il paesaggio è da mozzare il fiato...

Agios Theologos - From Kefalos, following the road and turning right at the crossroads (there is a beautiful fountain made of stone, under the shadow of majestic trees) you get to the Agios Theologos Taverna, and the homonym beach...the wind blows constantly...the landscape breathtaking...

Kavo Theologos Beach

 Kavo Theologos Beach - La nostra prima nuova scoperta di quest'anno...proseguendo in mezzo alle dune, dopo la Taverna di cui sopra, in un paesaggio mozzafiato si arriva a questa spiaggia...si scende mediante una scala ricavata nelle rocce e ci si trova davanti a questo spettacolo...accompagnati per tutta la giornata dalla musica speciale che la natura ci offre...il soffiare costante del vento, il rumore delle onde che si infrangono sulle rocce e le immancabili cicale! Surreale...meraviglioso...poetico!
Fare il bagno è quasi impossibile...proviamo ad entrare in acqua ma le onde ci ributtano sulla spiaggia...non ci resta che tornare bambini e giocare tra i cavalloni...e poi la mia musa chiama...

Kavo Theologos Beach - Our first discovery of this year...following the path from the above mentionned Taverna, among sand dunes, in breathtaking surroundings you arrive to this secluded beach...down a flight of steps dug in the rocks, this is what you see...We enjoy a Concerto offered by Nature, that lasts all day long... the constant blowing of the wind, the water breaking on the rocks and the ever-singing cicadas! Surreal...wonderful...poetic! Swimming is quite impossible...we try but the waves keep tossing us back to the beach...so we decide to play along, jumping among the waves, like when we were children...and then my Muse is calling...

Lagada Beach  

Lagada Beach - L'altra nuova scoperta...in pratica è un'unica distesa di sabbia che parte da Kardamena ed arriva fino al promontorio dopo il quale c'è Agios Stefanos...l'acqua ha una temperatura perfetta, la spiaggia è...beh, giudicate voi...un vero paradiso! In queste giornate anche la mia musa va in vacanza...

Lagada Beach - The second discovery...basically it's a big sandy beach from Kardamena to the headland after which you'll find Agios Stefanos, Kamari and Kefalos...the water is clean and the perfect temperature, the beach is...well, you say it...it's a real paradise! In these days even my muse is on vacation...

Limionas Beach 

Limionas Beach - Perfetta quando c'è vento perchè è un'insenatura riparata...pochi ombrelloni, purtroppo tante alghe, ma l'acqua è pulita e caldissima...la Taverna omonima è sempre una garanzia di buon cibo! Su questa spiaggia mi sento ispirata, e riprendo in mano il mio Art Journal...mi faccio ispirare anche dalla MoodBoard creata dalla bravissima Marta Lapkowska (aka Maremi's Small Art) per continuare la #52CafeCard challenge...

Limionas Beach - Perfect when it's windy because it's a sheltered bay...few ombrellas, unfortunately quite a lot of seaweeds, but the water is clean and very warm...The Limionas Taverna is always a perfect place for good food! On this beach I feel inspired and give my Art Journal a go...I let myself being inspired also by the first Moodboard created by the very talented Marta Lapkowska (aka Maremi's Small Art) to continue the #52CafeCard challenge...

L'ultimo giorno di vacanza, sulla spiaggia di Mastichari, riesco solo a finire il disegno, questa volta ispirato ad una lezione online generosamente donata dalla bravissima Tamara LaPorte (aka Willowing)...ecco la mia versione della 'Little Mermaid'...L'ho finita a casa, sempre utilizzando lo stesso materiale che avevo nel kit da viaggio...

On our last day, on Mastichari Beach, I barely finish the drawing of my last creation, this time inspired by an online lesson so generously donated by the uber-talented Tamara LaPorte (aka Willowing)...so this is my version of the 'Little Mermaid'...I completed her once at home, always using the same material I had in the travel kit...

E questo è in pratica il kit da Viaggio che mi sono preparata...alcuni timbri e washi tapes non li ho neppure usati. L'art Journal è formato da fogli da 300gr per acquerello che ho cucito insieme...la copertina di plastica l'ho presa da un notes comprato da Tiger...la cosa bella è che ha una mega tasca, nella quale sono riuscita ad infilare i timbri ed il blocco acrilico che mi serviva come tavolozza, poi per chiudere il tutto ho fatto dei buchi con la Crop-a-dile BigBite, aggiunto degli elastici ed una rilegatura 'à la Midori Notebook'.

Basically this is my Travel kit...few stamps and washi tapes haven't been used. The Art Journal is made with heavy weight watercolor paper stiched together...my very first signature! The plastic cover is from a notebook bought at Tiger...the amazing thing is that has a huge pocket, in which I could store the stamps and the acrylic block, then to keep everything closed, I made few holes with my Crop-a-dile BigBite, added elastic string and a binding 'à la Midori Notebook'.

Minaret of Defterdar Mosque - Eleftherias Square - Old Town

Ed ora la parte seria...purtroppo circa una settimana dopo il nostro ritorno a casa, c'è stato un violento terremoto che ha interessato Bodrum e Kos...il Minareto qui sopra, una bellissima opera architettonica del 18° secolo, che era un po' il simbolo della Old Town è crollato e non c'è più...quanto siamo inermi e piccoli di fronte alla forza della Natura...noi possiamo solo rispettarla e vivere al meglio ciò che ci viene donato...Kos è un'isola meravigliosa a misura d'uomo, il popolo greco è forte e generoso e saprà far fronte anche a questa situazione...

Anche quest'anno abbiamo avuto la fortuna di godere dell'ospitalità di questo Paese, di riempirci gli occhi ed il cuore con i colori, i paesaggi ed i tramonti...per oggi è tutto, non mi resta che salutarvi...Kalispera!

And now the serious part...unfortunately one week after our return, a very strong earthquake stroke Bodrum and Kos...the Minaret you see in the pic above, a beautiful construction dated 18th century and one of the symbols of the Old Town, is no longer standing...how small and helpless we all are compared to the forces of Nature...we just have to respect it and live at best what we are given...Kos is a wonderful Island, Greek people are strong and generous and they will be able to face this blow too.

Even this year we have been blessed enough to enjoy the hospitality of this Country, to fill our eyes and hearts with colors, landscapes and sunsets...That's it for today...Kalispera!

Ciao a tutti...eccomi di nuovo alle prese con la sfida settimanale del Lunedì di SIMON SAYS STAMP...il tema in questione è 'FOOD AND/OR DRINK' ...poteva esserci occasione migliore per 'sfornare' un bel Gingerbread Man???

Hello everyone...here I am, once again having fun with a new Monday Challenge, over at SIMON SAYS STAMP BLOG...this week's theme is 'FOOD AND/OR DRINK'...and I couldn't think of a better use for a 'freshly baked' Gingerbread Man!!!

Per questo dolcissimo 'biscottino' ho utilizzato la fustella Sizzix BIGZ L e del cartoncino per acquerello, poi ho iniziato a mescolare vari Distress, sia Inks che Oxides, sul mio 'craft mat' (D.I. Tea Dye, D.O. Antique Linen, D.O. Vintage Photo, D.I. Walnut Stain, D.O. Black Soot) spruzzato con acqua e raccolto con il Ginger...ho asciugato tra una passata e l'altra, ed alla fine ho aggiunto D.I Tea Dye, Ground Espresso e Black Soot direttamente sulla sagoma, con il blending tool.
Ho diluito con acqua l'acrilico Light Buttermilk della DecoArt Americana e ho fatto 'l'icing' sul biscotto. Con un marker nero ho disegnato gli occhietti, poi con un pennello per stencil e acrilico rosso ho fatto le guance.

For this sweet 'cookie' I have used Sizzx BIGZ L die and watercolor paper, I mixed different Distress Inks and Oxides on my craft mat, (D.I. Tea Dye, D.O. Antique Linen, D.O. Vintage Photo, D.I. Walnut Stain, D.O. Black Soot) spritzed with water then soaked in the Ginger...I dried after every step, added water when needed, then blended Distress Inks Tea Dye, Ground Espresso and Black Soot on the die-cut with a blending tool. Thinned down with water Light Buttermilk acrylic paint by DecoArt Americana and made the icing. Painted the eyes with a black marker and the cheeks with red acrylic paint and a stencil brush.

Per la base ho usato una tag di riciclo (si tengo anche le confezioni vuote...ormai sono senza speranza!!!), una buona mano di gesso bianco, poi con stencil e  modeling paste ho aggiunto qualche bolla qua e là...ho aggiunto anche del 'reticolo' adesivo che ho trovato oggi nel reparto edilizia di un magazzino. Poi ho iniziato a colorare con inchiostri spray (Lindy's e 13@rts), alla fine ho scurito il lato sinistro con il Distress Oxide Black Soot, spruzzato con acqua ed asciugato.
Ho recuperato dei bottoni decorativi che avevo da anni...li ho ripassati con il colore acrilico Ginger Magic (appropriato no?) della linea Sparks di Finnabair e sulle scritte ho steso il Distress Crayon Picket Fence per farle risaltare. Poi un mini gingerbread man cookie-cutter, 2 bottoncini ed un cuore dallo stile molto Country. Come tocco finale ho aggiunto del baker's twine ed una campanellina rusty...

I have used a recycled cardboard from a package (yes...I hoard those too...I'm helpless!)...a good layer of white gesso, then with a stencil and modeling paste added a bit of texture. I also added some self adhesive tape I have found today in a hardware store. Then I started adding colors using my ink sprays (Lindy's and 13@rts) and when dry, I darkened the edges on the left side with Distress Oxide Black Soot, spritzed with water and dry.
Added decorative buttons I had in my stash for ages, painted them with Finnabair Sparks paint Ginger Magic (seems so spot on, right?) and enhanced the writings with Distress Crayon Picket Fence. Then a mini gingerbread cookie-cutter, 2 tiny buttons and a heart. As a final touch used some baker's twine and a rusty bell...

Ciao e bentornati su queste pagine! Oggi vi propongo questa mini tela...prima una 'confessione'...avevo iniziato un progetto su questa canvas MA, come a volte succede,  il risultato non mi piaceva per niente, quindi...pronta per il riciclo!

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm gonna talk about this mini canvas...but first I have a 'confession' to make...I used this canvas before for another project BUT, as sometimes happens, I really disliked the result, so I decided to recycle it and give it a  new look!

Prima di tutto ho incollato dei pezzi di pagine di libro usando il Soft gel medium, poi ho incollato i negativi di varie fustellate...si...tengo anche i negativi..lo ammetto...sono una hoarder!!!Lol! Però in questo caso ho fatto bene, visto che sono tornati utili? Scherzi a parte, i ritagli, i negativi, oltre che ovviamente le fustellate vere e proprie sono perfetti per creare struttura e texture nello sfondo!
Ho usato molti ingranaggi tagliati con la BIGZ 'Industrial' di Tim Holtz e con 'Gadget Gears #2', ho usato anche la fustella 'Weathered Clock' sempre di Tim Holtz, poi ho coperto tutto con il Gesso bianco. Quando asciutto ho usato il 3D Gel Medium per attaccare delle perline. Ho asciugato e passato una nuova mano di gesso bianco.

First of all I have covered the canvas with pieces of book pages, using Soft gel medium, then I started attaching also left-overs from die-cuts, as the negatives...yes, I know...I'm a hoarder!!!Lol! But for this piece they are perfect to create texture! I have also used gears and cogs die-cuts using Tim Holtz 'Industrial' and 'Gadget Gears #2' dies, used Tim Holtz 'Weathered Clock' die too.  Then I covered everything with white gesso...when dry I attached some beads using 3D Gel Medium, dried and covered once again with white gesso.

I colori più chiari li ho spruzzati, aggiungendo acqua con uno spruzzino, prima in alto, facendo correre il colore e poi da sinistra verso destra. I colori più scuri li ho spruzzati solo a sinistra.

Started with the lighter shades first on top, then from left to right, always spritzing with water to make the colour run. The darker shades are used only on the left part.

Ho aggiunto un po' di effetto 'rusty' qua e là e poi ho deciso di utilizzare un paio di chipboards di Boozybear...Prima li ho tamponati con il Distress Stain Antique Bronze, poi li ho embossati usando la polvere per embossing Distress Vintage Photo...la texture è perfetta!
Ho aggiunto dei 'Clippings Stickers' di Tim Holtz Idea-ology, mattati su cartoncino nero...e la mia mini tela Steampunk è pronta!

Added a little bit of 'Rust' here and there, then used a couple of chippies by Boozybear...first I have coloured them with Antique Bronze Distress Stain, then embossed using Distress Embossing Powder - Vintage Photo...perfect texture!
As final touch I chose these little Idea-ology 'Clipping Stickers'...my Steampunk mini canvas is ready!

Dal Paper Pad 'Herbarium Collection' (SBBL29) ho scelto una pagina di mio gusto, quella con i papaveri, ed ho ritagliato un rettangolo 29x18 cm. Ho tagliato via gli angoli in alto ed ho fatto un buco nel mezzo per ricavare la mia Maxi Tag. Per maggiore robustezza l'ho incollata ad un pezzo di cartone utilizzando la Media Gloss Paste (K3P39) stesa con un pennello piatto. (Foto 1)

Dal pezzo di pagina avanzato e da una pagina di un vecchio libro ho ricavato delle strisce di varie dimensioni e le ho incollate sovrapponendole in alcuni punti per dare più texture. (Foto2)

From 'Herbarium Collection' Pape Pad (SBBL29) I have chosen a page, the one with the poppies and cut it to 11 ½ x 7 inches. Cut the corners and poked a hole in the middle to have a Mega Tag shape. To give it more sturdiness I glued it to a piece of cardboard using Media Gloss Paste (K3P39) with a flat brush. (Photo 1)

Using scraps of paper (I have used what was left from the page and a book page as well) I cut them in strips and glued them down, overlapping a few here and there, for more texture. (Photo 2)

Ho passato uno strato di gesso trasparente e poi ho coperto la Tag con l'acrilico Allegro Bianco (KAL11) molto diluito. Ho asciugato ed utilizzando lo Stencil per Mixed Media Rete Ondulata (KSTD011) ho steso la Crackle Paste Bianca (K3P37) con l'aiuto di una spatola. Adoro questa pasta...si asciuga in modo molto rapido formando una miriade di crepe. (Foto 3)

Sempre per aggiungere Texture e movimento al tutto ho incollato alcuni pezzi di Merletto (NSP02)...(Foto 4)

I gave a coat of clear gesso and then covered the entire Tag with a heavily diluted Allegro White Acrylic paint (KAL11). Dried everything then using Mixed Media Stencil Wavy Mesh (KSTD011) I spread White Crackle Paste (K3P37) with a spatula. I love this paste...dries very fast creating a gazillion of beautiful cracks. (Photo 3)

Added also few strips of Lace (NSP02) to build up layers...(Photo 4)

Ed ora...divertiamoci con i colori! Ho iniziato a spruzzare dall'alto verso il basso, lavorando in modo prevalente sulla parte destra. Ho utilizzato prima l'AquaColor Turchese (KAQ018), ho diluito spruzzando acqua per far scendere il colore sulla Tag, ed ho asciugato. Poi ho spruzzato il colore Acquamarina (KAQ015), diluito ed asciugato. Ho continuato con questi due colori fino ad essere soddisfatta, poi ho aggiunto il colore Cuoio (KAQ004) sulla parte in alto della Tag e sulla parte in basso...sempre sulla zona in basso ho spruzzato il colore Rosso (KAQ009), diluito ed asciugato.

Infine ho fatto cadere delle gocce dei vari colori ed asciugato bene. (Foto 5)

Con un pennello da stencil asciutto ho prelevato un po' di colore Bianco (KAL11), l'ho scaricato su di un pezzo di carta e l'ho steso sul pizzo, poi ho aggiunto il colore diluito sulla parte sinistra della Tag, per dare un po' di luce. (Foto 6)

And now...let's have fun with paints! Started spraying from the top towards the bottom, working mostly on the right part of the Tag. Used first Turquoise AquaColor (KAQ018), sprayed with water to make the color 'run' on the Tag, and dried. Then used Aquamarine (KAQ015), more water and dried. Continued with these two colors until satisfied, then moved to Leather (KAQ004), on the top and the bottom...when dry I sprayed the color Red (KAQ009) on the bottom too, added water and dried.

Then I flicked few drops of the above colors and then dried with my heating tool. (Photo 5)

Using a Drybrushing technique added some White Acrylic paint (KAL11) on the lace, then added the thinned color on the left side of the Tag, to give it some light. (Photo 6)

Adesso è il momento degli abbellimenti...Dal Paper Pad 'Herbarium Collection' (SBBL29) ho ritagliato un paio di etichette, poi usando un biglietto con apertura ovale dal set SBC04 come base, ho stampato con inchiostro nero alcune immagini usando il timbro High Definition Butterflies and Tags (WTKCC65). L'apertura con l'ovale l'ho tenuta da parte...

Ho ripassato i bordi delle varie tags con lo Stamp Pad Senape (WKP30P). (Foto 7)

Ho ritagliato le due immagini delle farfalle, di una ho tenuto solo le ali. Poi le ho colorate stendendo prima un velo di AquaColor Pino (KE34A) con un pennello a punta fine, asciugato e sempre con il pennello ho prelevato del Turchese (KAQ018) direttamente dalla bottiglietta ed ho colorato la parte centrale delle ali. Poi con il Bianco (KAL11) ho messo in evidenza i 'punti bianchi' sulla parte esterna delle ali. (Foto 8)

Now it's time for the embellishments...From the 'Herbarium Collection' Paper Pad (SBBL29) I fussy cut a couple of tags, then using a 3 Folds Card with oval opening from the set SBC04 as a base I stamped with black archival ink few images using the High Definition Stamp 'Butterflies and Tags' (WTKCC65). I set aside the part with the opening...

Painted the tags' borders with the Mustard Stamp Pad (WKP30P). (Photo 7)

I fussy cut 2 Butterflies, of 1 image I just kept the wings...then painted them first with a thin layer of Pine AquaColor (KE34A) using a fine tip brush, dried and dipped the same brush in the Turquoise bottle (KAQ018) and painted the wings in the middle. With White (KAL11) I painted the 'white dots' on the wings (Photo 8)

Dalle 'Wooden Shapes – Herbarium' (KLSP031) ho scelto il papavero...ovviamente...l'ho coperto con la Crackle Paste (K3P37) usando le dita, ho lasciato asciugare, poi con un pennello punta fine ho colorato il fiore con AquaColor Rosso (KAQ009) ed il resto con il Turchese (KAQ018) poi con un marker nero ho accentuato il centro ed infine ho steso la Patina Anticante Ombra (K3P16M), togliendo l'eccesso con un pezzo di carta. (Foto 9-10)

From 'Herbarium – Wooden Shapes' (KLSP031) I picked the Poppy...of course...covered with Crackle Paste (K3P37) using my fingers, let dry then with a fine tip brush painted the flower with Red AquaColor (KAQ009) and the rest with Turquoise (KAQ018). With a black marker I enhanced the middle of the flower and finally used the Shadow Aged Looking Patina (K3P16M), getting rid of the excess with a paper towel. (Photos 9 – 10)

Vi ricordate dell'apertura ovale del biglietto? Ho ritagliato tutto intorno all'apertura per ricavarne una cornice, poi con la Colla a Punta Fine (DC09) ho disegnato un motivo a zig-zag lungo l'ovale, ho fatto asciugare e poi ho colorato con Allegro Rame Metallico (KAL117). Ho steso la Patina Anticante Ombra (K3P16M), ho tolto l'eccesso e poi con le dita ho steso poco Verde Brillante (KAL31) per simulare la patina della ruggine. (Foto 11)

Do you remember the oval opening from the card? Well...I fussy cut all around the opening in order to have an oval frame, then using the Fine Tip Glue (DC09) I drew a zig-zag pattern all around, let dry then painted with Metallic Copper (KAL117). Used the Shadow Aged Looking Patina (K3P16M), getting rid of the excess, and added few touches of Shiny Green (KAL31), using my fingers, to show some 'rust patina' (Photo 11)

E' arrivato il momento di incollare il tutto!!!

Iniziando dall'alto ho incollato una piccola serratura di metallo dal set 'Locks' (SBA35) con la Media Gloss Paste (K3P39). In alto a destra ho aggiunto un pezzo di spago bianco e della garza e sopra a tutto ho incollato la farfalla, facendo aderire solo la parte centrale. Sopra al corpo ho attaccato un charm in metallo a forma di chiave che avevo da tempo in casa.

Ed ora il focal point principale...ho prima dipinto le tag con il colore Pino (KE34A), poi le ho incollate leggermente sovrapposte. Ai lati ho incollato le ali , sopra alle tags ho incollato dei pezzetti di garza e del Filo cerato Rosso (FLFCR), poi la 'cornice' anticata ed infine il Papavero.

Con il timbro Crackle (WTKCC39) ed inchiostro marrone ho aggiunto delle timbrate qua e là ed ho ripassato tutti i bordi con lo Stamp Pad Senape (WKP30P).

Ho usato il timbro 'Love Life' (WTK117) per timbrare le parole che volevo aggiungere alla Tag, le

ho ritagliate, ho ripassato i bordi con lo Stamp Pad Senape (WKP30P) e le ho 'mattate' sul Cartoncino Rosso (SBU051). Ho utilizzato dei ritagli di cartone come spessore ed incollate con la Media Gloss Paste (K3P39). Ho aggiunto dei tratti tipo 'stichery' con un marker nero, del Filo cerato Rosso (FLFCR) attraverso la serratura e la nostra Tag è terminata!

Time to assemble our Tag!!!

Starting from the top I glued a small metal lock from the set 'Locks' (SBA35) using Media Gloss Paste (K3P39). On the right added some white string and gauze, then attached the butterfly, only the main body and on top of that added a small metal key I had in my stash.

Now for the main focal point...first added a wash of Pine paint (KE34A) on the small tags, then glued them slightly overlapping each other. Attached the wings, on top of the tags added some gauze and Red Waxed Thread (FLFCR), then our 'aged frame' and finally the Poppy.

Using 'Crackle' Stamp (WTKCC39) and brown ink added few cracks here and there then painted the borders of the Tag using the Mustard Stamp Pad (WKP30P).

I have used the Stamp 'Love Life' (WTK117) for my Sentiments, cut them, aged the borders with

Mustard Stamp Pad (WKP30P), glued them onto Red Cardstock (SBU051) and added to the Tag, using some cardboard to raise them a little and Media Gloss Paste (K3P39). Added some 'stiches' with a black marker as final touches and some Red Waxed Thread (FLFCR) through the key-hole...our Tag is done!

Io ho unito tutto quanto e questo è il risultato...

So I have included everything in this spread...

Questo Art Journal promette di essere un vero sfogo emozionale...una pagina su mia madre, una per nostro anniversario di matrimonio, ed ora una pagina su mio padre...Non ho tantissime foto di lui, ne ho alcune insieme a lui da bambina, quelle del matrimonio, alcune sue buffissime di quando andava a pescare o cucinava...le sue passioni insieme alla pittura...
Ho deciso di utilizzare questa foto perchè mi piace pensarlo da ragazzo, giovane e spensierato in sella alla sua Vespa, con quello sguardo 'furbetto' negli occhi...ecco questo era il mio Papà!

This Art Journal is starting to be an outpouring of emotions...first a page on my mother, then one for our wedding anniversary, and now one for my father...I don't have a lot of pictures of him, few together when I was a child, those at my wedding, some very funny pictures when he was off fishing or cooking...his great passions, along with painting...
I have decided to use this picture because I love thinking of him as a boy, young and careless riding his Vespa, with that twinkle in his eyes...well this was my Dad!

Ed ora vi spiego come ho fatto...ho incollato vari elementi alle pagine, utilizzando negativi di fustellate, ingranaggi di cartone, linguette di metallo, bottoni,  washi tape, garza ed avanzi vari...poi ho coperto tutto con Art Basics Heavy Black Gesso di Finnabair/Prima. Poi ho iniziato a spruzzare vari colori di Lindy's Stamp Gang...dall'alto verso il basso ho usato Moonshadow Pirate's Plunder Gold e poi Moonshadow Crow's Nest Copper. Sulle pagine in basso ho steso della Crackle Paste, ho fatto asciugare e poi ho spruzzato il Magical Steampunk Sepia diluito con acqua. Per accentuare in mezzo ho spruzzato il Magical Cowabunga Copper. Una volta asciutto ho steso il colore acrilico Art Alchemy Opal Magic Blue-Gold di Finnabair/Prima con le dita per accentuare le parti in rilievo. Ho ingrandito una foto di mio Padre da giovane (molto giovane), l'ho ritagliata, invecchiata con il Distress Ink Vintage Photo e poi ho colorato la Vespa con il colore rosso e poi con la vernice Triple Thick di DecoArt. L'ho incollata alla pagina e poi ho aggiunto un ingranaggio di metallo sulla ruota.

And now I'm telling you how I made this...I have glued different elements, such as die-cuts negatives, cogs die-cuts, buttons, metal tabs from cans, washi tape, gauze and various scraps...then cover everything with Finnabair/Prima Art Basics Heavy Black Gesso. Afterwards started spraying using Lindy's Stamp Gang products...from the top to the bottom I have used Moonshadow Pirate's Plunder Gold then Moonshadow Crow's Nest Copper.  On the bottom of the pages I spread some Crackle Paste, let dry then spritzed with Magical Steampunk Sepia diluted in water. To enhance the middle part of the pages I sprayed also Magical Cowabunga Copper. Once everything was dry I painted here and there on the raised parts with Finnabair/Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic paint Opal Magic Blue-Gold, using my fingers.
I enlarged a picture of my Dad, when he was young (very young), fussy-cut it, aged with Distress Ink Vintage Photo then painted the Vespa with red acrylic paint and coated with Triple Thick varnish by DecoArt. Glued it to the page and added a metal gear embellishment on the wheel.

Per l'altra pagina ho utilizzato due parole fustellate con le Thinlits 'Handwritten Love' di Tim Holtz e delle lettere dalla Fustella Word Play sempre di Tim. Tutto è stato dipinto con il colore acrilico Art Alchemy Sparks Ginger Magic (perfetto per me, giusto?).
La differenza di tonalità è dovuta al fatto che le lettere che formano la parola 'Father' sono prima state dipinte con il Gesso nero, mentre per le altre due parole ho dipinto direttamente il cartoncino bianco.
Per finire il tutto ho incollato un piccolo bottone rosso a forma di cuore ed anche questa pagina è finita.

For the other page I used die cuts from Tim Holtz 'Handwritten Love' Thinlits and letters from WordPlay Die...painted with Finnabair/Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic paint Sparks Ginger Magic (which is perfect for me, right?)
The different shade is due to the fact that the letters for 'Father' have been coated with black gesso first, while I painted the other words directly on the white cardstock.
As a finishing touch I added a small red button with a heart shape, and the spread is done!

GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES...

Ciao a tutti e bentornati sulle pagine di questo Blog! Come avrete già capito è il momento della Sfida sul Blog di SIMON SAYS STAMP...e anche questa settimana è di scena il mio Art Journal!!!

Hello everyone and welcome back! As you might have guessed it's time for a new Challenge over at SIMON SAYS STAMP...and, as usual, it's another Art Journal Spread!!!

Tra poco sarà il nostro Anniversario di Matrimonio...17 anni volati in un attimo...quindi ho deciso di decorare queste pagine utilizzando una foto che ho fatto recentemente e che mi piace molto. Poichè il tema della sfida del Lunedì è 'WE'RE GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES' ho appunto aggiunto vari cerchi, utilizzando stencil, timbrate e fustelle...inoltre è stata l'occasione perfetta per continuare la mia sperimentazione con i Distress Oxides!

In few days will be our Wedding Anniversary...17 years flown away in a heartbeat...so I have decided to make a Journal spread using a photo that I love. Since the new Monday challenge theme is 'WE'RE GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES' I added different kind of circles using stencils, stamps and die cuts...plus has been the perfect occasion to continue my experiments with Distress Oxides!

Per prima cosa ho coperto le pagine con il Gesso Bianco, poi ho provato ad utilizzare la tecnica 'Resist' di KATH, usando il Distress Crayon Picket Fence attraverso uno stencil...perfetta!
Poi ho utilizzato i Distress Oxide Vintage Photo e Cracked Pistachio con lo stencil 'Specimens' di TCW.
Ho incollato dei ritagli di carta e del pizzo per creare della texture, poi sempre con lo stencil di prima ho aggiunto anche della Modeling Paste.
Ho diluito in acqua i Magicals della Lindy's Stamp Gang Tibetan Poppy Teal e Drop Dead Gorgeous Green ed ho iniziato a spruzzarli sulle pagine, Poi con il Distress Blending Tool ho steso prima il Distress Ink Antique Linen e poi il Vintage Photo...e poi via con lo SPRITZ & FLICK!!!
Ho voluto provare anche a timbrare con i Distress Oxides e sono perfetti anche per quello!
Per le timbrate ho usato D.O. Broken China e Vintage Photo.
Ho fatto cadere qualche goccia di Magicals qua e la e ripulito le zone dove avevo steso il Distress Crayon con una salviettina. Ho aggiunto delle fustellate per creare i cerchi (anche se irregolari, ma danno sicuramente più movimento alla pagina) la scritta 'Together' l'ho tagliata usando le Thinlits 'Handwritten Love' di Tim Holtz ed il cuore con il Mini Love Struck Set Movers&Shapers sempre di Tim. Entrambi li ho dipinti con i D.O. Cracked Pistachio e Broken China. Poi ho aggiunto qualche tocco di Distress Ink Ground Espresso.
Ho infine aggiunto alcuni chipboard che ho poi dipinto con  Opal Magic Acrylic Paint Aqua-Rose di Finnabair/Prima.

First thing I gessoed the pages, then used the 'Distress Crayon Resist Technique' explained by KATH in her blog...just perfect!
Used Distress Oxides Vintage Photo and Cracked Pistachio with the 'Specimens' stencil by TCW.
Glued some paper scraps and lace to create some texture and using again the Specimens stencil, added some Modeling Paste.
Diluted Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals Tibetan Poppy Teal and Drop Dead Gorgeous Green in a bottle with water and started spraying on the pages, then with the Distress Blending Tool added first Antique Linen Distress Ink, then Vintage Photo...and...on with the SPRITZ & FLICK!!!
I wanted to try to stamp with Distress Oxides and I have to say that they are perfect even for this!
I have used D.O. Vintage Photo and Broken China.
Flicked few drops of Magicals here and there and clean with a baby wipe where I have used the 'Resist' Technique. Added few die cuts as circles (Though very 'unconventional', they definitely add something to the spread), the word 'Together' is cut using Tim Holtz Thinlits 'Handwritten Love', while the Heart is from Tim's Mini Love Struck Set of Movers&Shapers. Both have been painted using D.O. Cracked Pistachio and Broken China, then added a touch of Ground Espresso Distress Ink.
As final touches added few 'bubbly' chipboards which I painted using Finnabair/Prima Opal Magic Acrylic Paint Aqua-Rose.

Comunque la sfida del Lunedì sul Blog di SIMON SAYS STAMP è stata la perfetta occasione per provare i meravigliosi DISTRESS OXIDES!!! Che dire...è nato un nuovo amore...

Hello everyone and welcome back! Guess what I am showing you today? Excellent guess...another page from my Art Journal...what can I say? Among the others I have also this obsession...!
Anyways...the new Monday Challenge over at SIMON SAYS STAMP has been the perfect chance to try my wonderful DISTRESS OXIDES!!! Again...a new love is born...

Ho steso i Distress Oxides con il Distress Blending Tool direttamente sulle pagine...dall'alto ho steso Broken China e Cracked Pistachio, ho asciugato e poi ho usato la mia tecnica preferita...'SPRITZ & FLICK'...l'effetto è fantastico, specie al tatto...come già detto da tanti, hanno questa finitura 'Chalky' (cioè tipo gesso) davvero molto interessante!
Ho poi continuato con Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint ed in ultimo Vintage Photo.
Ho usato il negativo che mi era rimasto dopo aver fustellato le 'Wildflowers' Thinlits di Tim Holtz come uno stencil, utilizzando una spugnetta ed  acrilico nero.
Poichè il tema della sfida è 'LITTLE CRITTERS' ho disegnato usa pecorella dallo stile Country, su un foglio per acquerello è l'ho dipinta con i colori acrilici. Ho incollato dei bottoncini al 'Penny Rug' ed anche il mio critter è  completato.
Ho stampato l'aereo sempre su cartoncino per acquerello e l'ho colorato usando i Markers, infine ho preparato il banner con la scritta...

I have blended Distress Oxides on the pages using the Distress Blending Tool...starting from the top I have used Broken China and Cracked Pistachio, dried and used my favourite technique...'SPRITZ & FLICK'...the effect is great, expecially when you touch it...as already said by others, the Oxides have this 'Chalky' finish that is very interesting!
I went on with Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo.
I have used the negative from Tim Holtz 'Wildflowers' die cuts, as a stencil with a sponge and some black acrylic paint.
As the challenge theme is 'LITTLE CRITTERS' I have drawn a little Country Sheep on watercolor cartstock and painted with acrylic paints. I also glued down some tiny buttons on the 'Penny Rug' as final touches, and my critter is completed.
I stamped the plane on watercolor cardstock and painted using Markers and to finish it off I wrote the sentiment and cut it as a banner...

Ecco finito la mia pagina...
And my page is done...
