#12MMITags Marzo - I paint my own dreams

Ciao a tutti! Eccomi di nuovo con una Tag, che novità eh? Lol!

Questa volta però è per la Sfida mensile del gruppo Mixed Medi@ Italia... questo mese abbiamo pensato di immergerci nei colori, visto il periodo non propriamente positivo, quindi...bando alle ciance...ecco a voi la Moodboard per le #12MMITags2020 di Marzo...

Hello everyone! I'm back with a new Tag, you don't say! Lol!

This time though it's for the monthly challenge in our Facebook Group Mixed Medi@ Italia...for this month we decided to delve into a rainbow of colours, especially needed during these times of turmoil and fear, so...without further ado...here's the new Moodboard for   #12MMITags2020 - March...

Ora, io penso ai colori e mi viene in mente Frida Kahlo, ho quindi deciso di unire entrambi in questa Tag...iniziamo:

Now...usually when I think about colours I also think about Frida Kahlo, so I have decided to merge both into this Tag...let's begin:

Ho usato un cartoncino di media grammatura e l'ho ricoperto con Idea-Ology Collage Paper - Halloween di Tim Holtz, usando il Soft Matte Gel di Finnabair, poi ho dato una mano di Gesso Clear e delle pennellate molto lievi di Heavy Gesso Bianco, sempre di Finnabair.

I have used medium weight cardstock, covered with Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Collage Paper - Halloween, using Finnabair Soft Matte Gel, then I covered everything with Clear Gesso and few strokes of Heavy White Gesso.

Ho aggiunto dei dettagli con uno stencil e la Pasta Stencil Light di TommyArt, fatto asciugare e poi ho spruzzato con gli inchiostry spray Flat Fabio della Lindy's Stamp Gang: Plumeria Pink, Magical Mai Tai, Rizzo's Rowdy Red, Ocean Breeze Blue, Aloha Avocado. La prima volta ho spruzzato il colore, aggiunto acqua e fatto colare, togliendo l'eccesso, poi ho asciugato bene prima di passare al colore successivo. Una volta completato il primo passaggio, ho ripetuto il tutto, senza usare l'acqua, per avere un'effetto più intenso.

Ho fatto asciugare bene e poi ho passato il Wink of Stella Bianco della Zig sulle scritte in rilievo.

Added details using TommyArt Stencil Paste light and a Stencil, let it dry then used Flat Fabios by Lindy's Stamp Gang: Plumeria Pink, Magical Mai Tai, Rizzo's Rowdy Red, Ocean Breeze Blue, Aloha Avocado

For the first step I sprayed a colour, then added water to make it 'run', taking the eccess off with a paper towel, dry it very well and moved to the next colour. Then I repeated the process, this time without adding water, to achieve more intense results.

Let it dry very well then used White Wink of Stella Brush by Zig on the raised words.

Ho timbrato la tag utilizzando un timbro della Prima che assomiglia ad una pennellata, e come inchiostri ho usato i Distress Oxides: Peeled Paint, Spices Marmalade, Aged Mahogany, poi ho ripassato tutti i bordi con il Distess ink Black Soot.

Ho quindi disegnato la mia Frida su cartoncino spesso e l'ho colorata usando brush pens acquarellabili, Zig e Tombow, pastelli Prismacolor e Polychromos.

Poi ho usato uno stencil della 13@rts 'Doily' e la pasta stencil per creare l'effetto 'pizzo'.

I fiori, timbro Moda Scrap ed il cuore, timbro 'Blooming Heart' di AALL&Create,  li ho colorati con i Prismacolor.. mi sono divertita tantissimo.

Per finire ho timbrato un sentiment, timbro Visible Image, su vellum e l'ho embossato con la polvere Clear della Ranger.

I stamped the tag using Distress Oxide Inks: Peeled Paint, Spices Marmalade, Aged Mahogany and a 'brush stroke' stamp by Prima, then darkened the edges with Distress ink Black Soot.

Then I drew my Frida on white cardstock and added colour using watercolour brush pens,  Zig and Tombow, Prismacolor and Polychromos pencils.

I have used a stencil by 13@rts 'Doily' and Stencil paste to create the 'lace' effect.

I have coloured the flowers, a stamp by Moda Scrap, and the heart, AALL&Create stamp 'Blooming Heart' designed by Olga Heldwein, using Prismacolor pencils...and I had so much fun.

As finishing detail I have stamped the sentiment, a Visible Image stamp, on vellum and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder by Ranger.

ITAC 17 CHALLENGE 5 - AMERICA...

Ciao a tutti, eccomi di nuovo su queste pagine per l'ultima, ma non meno importante sfida dell'International Tournament of Arts & Crafts - ITAC 17...siamo arrivati alla Challenge n.5 AMERICA...Celebrate the colors of The Americas! Celebrare i colori delle Americhe...infatti il mio progetto, uno spread nel mio Art Journal ha come soggetto il Sud America, il verde della Foresta Amazzonica, le parole struggenti di una delle mie canzoni preferite, 'Una Palabra' di Carlos Varela...e lei...l'unica, inconfondibile, meravigliosa FRIDA KAHLO...

Queste le richieste per la sfida:

• Tonalità di verde
• Qualcosa di trasparente o tagliente, tipo ghiaccio 
• Un qualcosa di formato XXL 
• Un elemento che suggerisca denaro 
• Uno o più elementi ispirati dalla musica e/o Samba
• Decorazioni fatte di piume, metallo, pelle...

Hello everyone, here I am once again for the last but least challenge of the International Tournament of Arts & Crafts - ITAC 17...we finally are at Challenge 5 - AMERICA.. Celebrate the colors of The Americas...as a matter of fact my project, an Art Journal spread, is about South America, the greens of the Amazon Rainforest, the hauting lyrics of one of my favourite songs, 'Una Palabra' by Carlos Varela...and her..the unique, iconic, wonderful FRIDA KAHLO...

These the elements requested for the challenge:

• Shades of green
• Something transparent or sharp, like ice
• A large format feature, XXL size
• An element suggestive of money and currency
• One or more elements inspired by music and/or Samba
• Decorations made of feathers, metal, leather…

Qui sopra i materiali usati per le pagine...Gesso Bianco, Modeling Paste e Stencil 'Always The Music' della 13@rts. Per i colori ho usato i Magicals della Lindy's 'Rusty Lantern Lime', 'Drop Dead Gorgeous Green' e 'Ponderosa Pines Olive', con l'aggiunta del Rainbow Color Duo 'Pistachio Green' della 13@rts.
Come immagine centrale ho utilizzato una cartolina di un quadro di Frida acquistata durante la visita ad una mostra a lei dedicata, qualche tempo fa...è assolutamente perfetta per l'occasione!

Above you can see the materials used for the project...White Gesso, Modeling Paste and Stencil 'Always the Music' by 13@rts. To paint I have used Lindy's Magicals 'Rusty Lantern Lime', 'Drop Dead Gorgeous Green' and 'Ponderosa Pines Olive', then added Rainbow Color Duo 'Pistachio Green' by 13@rts.
For my focal point I have used a postcard bought months ago, during a visit to an art exhibition about Mexican Painters...I think it's absolutely perfect for the occasion!

Sull'altra pagina ho scritto un paio di versi della bellissima canzone di Carlos Varela 'Una Palabra'...mi incanta tutte le volte che l'ascolto...
Ho timbrato delle piume su acetato usando lo StazOn Jet Black e le ho colorate con dei marker permanenti, ed ho aggiunto una piuma 'charm' in metallo.. con questo ho sistemato le richieste 'Piume', 'Metallo' e 'Trasparente'!
Un'altra pagina del mio 'Art Journal Emozionale' è fatta...

On the other page I wrote a couple of verses from the beautiful lyrics of  'Una Palabra' by Carlos Varela...I'm in love with this song...
I stamped few feathers on a piece of transparent plastic (acetate) with StazOn Jet Black Ink and colored them with permanent markers, then added a metal feather...prompts 'Transparent', 'Feathers' and 'Metal': check!
Another spread in my 'Emotional Art Journal' is done...

Handmade Flowers...for Frida!

Ciao a tutti...felice di avervi di nuovo qui! Oggi voglio farvi vedere una nuova pagina del mio Art Journal, che ho iniziato pensando alla nuova sfida del Lunedì di SIMON SAYS STAMP (HANDMADE FLOWERS - fiori fatti a mano) e che poi ha preso una direzione tutta sua...

Hello everyone...It's good to see you here once again! Today I'm gonna show you a new page of my Art Journal...I started this one thinking about the new Monday Challenge over at SIMON SAYS STAMP's Blog (HANDMADE FLOWERS)...then suddendly it took its own way...

Nello scorso fine-settimana io e la mia dolce metà siamo andati a Bologna a vedere la mostra della 'Collezione Gelman - Arte Messicana del XX Secolo'. Tra gli artisti, i più rappresentati e sicuramente più famosi (almeno qui da noi) erano Diego Rivera e Frida Kahlo. (Soprattutto per la loro storia personale, infatti erano presenti molte foto della loro vita insieme)
Adoro i lavori di Frida da anni, anche se spesso i suoi quadri, specie quelli più personali e 'brutali' mi trafiggono lo stomaco...ma non è forse questa la grandezza di un'artista? La capacità di suscitare sensazioni con il proprio lavoro? Sicuramente Frida è stata non solo una pittrice eccezionale, ma anche una donna straordinaria, capace di riversare nei suoi quadri il suo dolore e le sue emozioni e di trasmetterle agli altri come pochi riescono a fare.
Poter ammirare alcune sue opere da vicino...ed intendo proprio quasi con il naso sul quadro...è stato realizzare un sogno...

During last week-end, me and my sweet Hubby went to Bologna to the exhibition of the 'Gelman Collection - Mexican Art of the XX Century'. Among the artists, the most represented and famous (at least here in Italy) were Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. (Mostly for their personal story, in fact there were a lot of pictures  of their life together)
I've been in love with Frida's work for years, even if often her paintings, expecially the most personal and 'brutal' just hit me in the guts...but this is what an artist's talent is all about, isn't it? The ability to convey emotions through their work? Surely Frida has been not only a remarkably talented painter, but also an extraordinary woman, capable of pouring her sufferings, pain and emotions in her paint, and to make the viewers feel them. Only few artists can really do that.
Being able to admire her work so closely...meaning almost with my nose on the painting...has been like a dream coming true...

Quello in mezzo, ovviamente, è un mio tributo fatto tempo fa...
The one in the middle, obviously, has been made by me some time ago...

Ed eccoci tornati alla pagina di oggi...mi sembrava...'giusto' dedicare i miei fiori fatti a mano a lei, che se ne ornava sempre il capo, che li dipingeva perchè  'DIPINGO FIORI COSI' NON MORIRANNO'...

So here we are, back to my page...I thought 'appropriate' to dedicate my handmade flowers to her, who used them to adorn her hair, who painted them because ' I PAINT FLOWERS SO THEY WILL NOT DIE'...
