Ginny and the sheep: WEEK 1

Hello everyone, I'm so pleased you are here...I'm so excited and happy to be Guest Designer for the month of August at the SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG...sort of dream come true and I wish to thank so much Simon Says Stamp and Lols for this great opportunity...we all know how much talented the Artists of the Design Team are, and being among them, even if for a while, just fills me with joy!!!

Ciao a tutti, sono contenta di vedervi qui...Sono felicissima ed emozionata per essere stata scelta come Guest Designer per il mese di Agosto da SIMON SAYS STAMP MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG...è un po' come un sogno diventato realtà e desidero ringraziare Simon Says Stamp e Lols per questa grande opportunità...sappiamo tutti quanto siano talentuose le Artiste che compongono il Design Team, ed essere in loro compagnia, anche se per poco, mi riempie di gioia!!!

And now...let's talk about the new Monday Challenge...
Ed ora...parliamo della nuova Sfida del Lunedì...

This week's theme is HAPPY BIRTHDAY , as we are celebrating THE MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG'S 7^th BIRTHDAY ...YAYYY...Congratulations guys!!! It's awesome to be here and celebrate this important date with you all! For this special occasion we are showcasing SIMON'S EXCLUSIVES products...as always it is not mandatory to use them to join the challenge, however if you do, the DT would be delighted to see how you use them in your projects!

For this project I have chosen the 'Sentiments of Be' set, which consist in a set of clear stamps of sentiments AND the word 'Be' die...I so love it...and on top of that I picked the 'YOU' die which is just perfect and so versatile.

Il tema di questa settimana è HAPPY BIRTHDAY, e si festeggia il Settimo Compleanno del MONDAY CHALLENGE BLOG...Evvai...Congratulazioni!!! E' fantastico essere qui e celebrare questa data importante con voi! Per questa occasione speciale usiamo i prodotti 'SIMON'S EXCLUSIVES'...come al solito però non è obbligatorio usarli per partecipare alla sfida, MA se ne siete in possesso, sarebbe bello vedere come li utilizzate nel vostro progetto!

Per questo progetto ho scelto il set 'Sentiments of Be', composto da timbri clear e una fustellina della parola 'BE'...lo adoro...e poi per completare il tutto la fustella 'YOU' che è perfetta e molto versatile.

To celebrate all the above I have decided to use some of my all time favorite products, for a spread in my 'Emotional Journal', along with the other pages filled with feelings and close to my heart...You will find the list of products used and available at Simon Says Stamp Store, at the end of the post.

Per celebrare tutto questo ho deciso di 'immortalarlo' nel mio 'Emotional Journal', vicino alle altre pagine create ultimamente e che mi sono così care, utilizzando una serie di prodotti che sono tra i miei preferiti...Trovate l'elenco del materiale usato e disponibile nello Store di Simon Says Stamp, alla fine del post.

Started with a coat of gesso on the spread and while it was drying, I prepared all the embellishments needed for the page...I die-cut the 'Globe' from cardstock trying not to 'loose' all the pieces you would normally get rid of, as I wanted to give a sort of 'connection' between the continents...After all we take part to the weekly challenges from all around the World and somehow we are all unite and connected through art. To secure all the bits I have attached tiny pieces of washi tape on the back. Then die-cut a circle big enough for the Globe to fit in. I painted the circle adding Salty Ocean Distress Ink using the Mini Ink blending tool, then added Faded Jeans Distress Oxide. Dried with a heat tool and then used my all-time favourite technique..'Spritz&Flick'...just spritz some water on you hand and flick the drops on whatever you have coloured with Distress Inks or Oxides! Dried once again and darken all around with Distress Ink Black Soot.

For the Globe I had fun with the Oxides: started with Cracked Pistachio and Broken China where the water is supposed to be, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo for the 'earthy' part. Remember to dry in between layers, and after the last step again go with the 'Spritz&Flick'...Dried the eccess of water, darken the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink and glued to the 'Blue' circle.

Ho iniziato con uno strato di gesso sulle pagine e, mentre si asciugava , ho iniziato a preparare gli abbellimenti. Ho utilizzato la fustella 'Globe' cercando di non 'perdere' tutti i pezzetti che di solito si buttano, volevo infatti mantenere una sorta di 'connessione' tra i continenti...In fondo partecipiamo alle sfide settimanali da tutto il Mondo, quindi siamo in qualche modo uniti e connessi dalla nostra arte! Ho attaccato dei pezzetti di washi tape sul retro per essere sicura che niente saltasse via. Ho fustellato un cerchio abbastanza grande per contenere il Globo, ed iniziato a colorarlo prima con il Distress Ink Salty Ocean usando il Mini Ink blending tool, poi ho aggiunto Faded Jeans Distress Oxide. Una volta asciutto ho usato la mia tecnica preferita...'Spritz&Flick'...basta spruzzarsi un po' di acqua sulla mano e far cadere le gocce su quanto colorato con Inks o Oxides! Asciugato un ultima volta e ripassato tutto intorno con il Distress Ink Black Soot.

Per il Globo ci divertiamo con gli Oxides: ho iniziato con Cracked Pistachio e Broken China nei punti dove dovrebbe esserci l'acqua, poi Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade e Vintage Photo sul resto. Ricordatevi di asciugare tra un colore e l'altro e dopo l'ultimo step...avanti con il 'Spritz&Flick'. Asciugato e scurito il bordo con il Black Soot D.I., infine ho incollato il tutto sul cerchio precedentemente colorato...ed abbiamo il nostro globo terracqueo.

After that I die-cut all the words, number and letters needed using Simon's Exclusive dies ('Be' and 'You') and Tim Holtz dies (Handwritten Celebrate Thinlits, Word Play XL Bigz, Alphanumeric Thinlits)..

I have cut the thin words a couple of time, out of spare chipboard, then glued together for more sturdiness...then painted everything with a good coat of Art Alchemy Sparks acrylic paint – Ginger Magic.

Stamped with Black Ink few sentiments out of the 'Sentiments of Be' set...I've chosen 'Be happy – be creative – be a dreamer'...Yes...that's just me...

Cut out and framed the words using Black Soot Distress Ink.

And now the uber-fun part...the BACKGROUND!

Took some Tissue Wrap, ripped out some strips and attached them using Soft Matte Gel ...don't be perfect...we are looking for some texture here, so...wrinkles are welcome!

I have dried and then applied a thin wash of gesso. Dried again and stamped with Embossing Ink through the Rays stencil, using a cosmetic sponge, covered the area with Clear Embossing Powder...got rid of the excess on a piece of paper, in order to restore it safely into the pot and heat set.
Now let's mix and match Distress Inks and Oxides...Started with Mustard seed D.I., I dried, applied Fossilized Amber D.O., dried again, Spritz&Flick and dried once more, then cleaned the inks from the 'rays' with a baby wipe and added the next colours...Spiced Marmalade, first Ink then Oxide, then Fired Brick, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China...Just have fun with those inks, after the first layer is dried, keep adding Oxides until you are satisfied with the outcome!
After everything was dry, I had fun with the Harlequin stencil (another of my fave...)...fist added some Spiced Marmalade Oxide here and there, then took off some colour using a baby wipe, always through the stencil. I also applied some Texture Crackle Paste...I have loved seeing some of the colours mixing with the paste...I loved it so much that enhanced the cracks with matching Distress Crayons...Added few more touches of Faded Jeans Distress Oxides then painted all the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. Before adding the embellishments, just splattered with thinned-down black and white acrylic paints.

Dopodichè ho fustellato le parole, lettere e numeri che mi servivano, utilizzando le fustelle di Simon Exclusive ('Be' e 'You') e quelle di Tim Holtz (Handwritten Celebrate Thinlits, Word Play XL Bigz, Alphanumeric Thinlits)..

Ho fustellato tutte le parole e le lettere un paio di volte, utilizzando del cartoncino di recupero, poi ho incollato insieme i vari strati per dare maggiore corpo...ho dipinto tutto usando il colore acrilico Sparks – Ginger Magic .

Ho timbrato con inchiostro nero alcune dele parole dal set 'Sentiments of Be'...Io ho scelto 'Be happy – be creative – be a dreamer'...Già...sono proprio io...

Ritagliato e 'sporcato' i bordi con Black Soot Distress Ink.

Ed ora la parte più divertente...Lo SFONDO!

Ho preso del Tissue Wrap, ne ho strappato dei pezzi ed incollati alle pagine con il Soft Matte Gel ...non siate perfetti...vogliamo avere della texture, quindi...le grinze sono le benvenute!

Asciugato, un leggero wash di gesso, ed asciugato di nuovo. Con l'aiuto di una spugnetta ho applicato dell'inchiostro per Embossing attraverso lo stencil Rays , ho coperto con la polvere per embossing Clear, versato l'eccesso su di un pezzo di carta per recuperare la polvere ed embossato.

Adesso iniziamo a colorare alternando i Distress Inks e gli Oxides...Io ho iniziato con il D.I. Mustard Seed, asciugato, aggiunto il D.O. Fossilized Amber, asciugato ancora e poi giù di Spritz&Flick ...asciugato, ripulito con una salviettina i 'raggi' ed aggiunto un'altro colore...nell'ordine Spiced Marmalade, prima Ink e poi Oxide , poi Fired Brick., Cracked Pistachio ed infine Broken China,...Divertitevi con questi inchiostri...quando il primo strato è asciutto aggiungete altri Oxides fino a che siete soddisfatti del risultato!
Una volta asciutto è stata la volta dello stencil Harlequin (un'altro dei miei preferiti...)...prima ho aggiunto dello Spiced Marmalade Oxide qui e là, poi ho tolto del colore usando una salviettina, sempre attraverso lo stencil. Ho anche aggiunto della Texture Crackle Paste ...mi è piaciuto molto che parte del colore si sia mescolato alla pasta...mi è piaciuto così tanto che ho evidenziato le crepe ancora di più usando i Distress Crayons in tinta...Ho aggiunto alcuni tocchi di Faded Jeans Oxide, solo sui bordi e poi il solito Black Soot tutto intorno. Prima di aggiungere gli abbellimenti ho spruzzato le pagine con acrilico nero e bianco molto diluiti.

At this point I have glued everything in place, and, as final touch added this cute ballerina Paper-Doll...my favourite of them all, such a sweetie...

A questo punto ho incollato tutto e, come tocco finale ho aggiunto questa meraviglia di ballerina...la mia preferita tra le Paper Dolls...così dolce e carina...
