My Big, Fat, Greek Holidays...

Ciao a tutti, eccomi tornata dal mio viaggio annuale nelle meravigliose isole greche...Quest'anno la nostra meta è stata NAXOS!
Che dire...le Cicladi hanno sempre un fascino particolare, sono esattamente ciò che ci si aspetta quando si pensa ad un'isola greca...casette bianche, cupole blu ed un mare dai colori intensi...
Ed i tramonti...ogni isola a suo modo, ha una peculiarità...Mykonos con il suo tramonto dai mulini a vento e dalla chiesa Paraportiani, Santorini con la sua Caldera ed il tramonto da Oia, Naxos con la sua magnifica Portara...guardare il sole scendere nel mare attraverso questa 'porta' è davvero un'esperienza magica...

Hi everyone, I'm back from my annual vacation spent on the amazing Greek Islands...This year our destination was NAXOS!
What can I say...Cyclades Islands always have a special appeal, they are exactly what you expect when you think about a Greek Island...white washed houses, blue domes and an intense coloured sea...And the sunsets...every Island is unique in its own way...Mykonos with its Windmills and the sunset from the Paraportiani church, Santorini with the breathtaking Caldera and the sunset view from Oia, Naxos with its magnificent Portara...to witness the sun diving into the sea through this 'gate' it's a magical experience...

Passeggiare e rigorosamente perdersi tra i vicoli della Chora di Naxos è una sensazione bellissima...salire di mattina lungo queste stradine ancora addormentate, oppure cercare un riparo dal sole sotto le bouganville...e poi di sera all'improvviso tutto si anima di nuova vita...spuntano tavolini e sedie ed ecco che la musica di sirtaki ti invita a ballare...non prima di aver assaggiato uno dei tanti deliziosi piatti tipici ed un buon bicchiere di vino!

Taking a stroll and loosing yourself down the alleys of the Chora in Naxos it's an experience that has to be made...in the morning, going up these streets, still fast asleep, or searching for shelter from the sun, under fuchsia bouganvilles...and at night, when tables and chairs appear just out of the blue and the music starts to play, inviting you to dance a sirtaki...after tasting the many delicious dishes and drinking a good glass of wine!

E che dire delle bellissime e kilometriche spiagge? Lunghe distese di sabbia fine ed un mare che passa dal turchese al blu...e le vestigia di un passato pieno di mitologia...

What about beautiful and long beaches made of fine sand? Clear water turning from turquoise to deep blue...and the remains of a magnificent past full of myths.

Anche quest'anno abbiamo lasciato un pezzo di cuore in Grecia...alla prossima avventura!
