The Raven...

"And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor:
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!"
                                              Edgar Allan Poe

Ciao!

Hello! A quick post to show you my latest Art Journal page inspired by the poem 'The Raven' by Edgar Allan Poe...the idea came to me when I bought this awesome stamp 'Raven Skull' by Stampendous. If you add a rainy weather day, then you have the perfect mood for a Gothic layout...Lol!

I'll show you a couple of details: I stamped the image on watercolor cardstock, then I painted the leaves using Faber-Castell Gelatos. I aged and distressed the all thing using Distress Inks and on the skull I spread a fair amount of Crackle Glaze by DecoArt Media; once dried I used the Raw Umber Antiquing Cream by DecoArt Media and few touches of  Distress Crayon 'Walnut Stain' to reveal the cracks.
I die cut the frame using Tim Holtz 'Ornate frame #2' (Love it!!!!), covered it with 'Finnabair Art Basics' Black Heavy Gesso by Prima, and gave it an 'antique' look by dry brushing first with Ayeeda Metallic Paint Dark Yellow by 13arts and then with Dazzling Metallics Splendid Gold by DecoArt.
I printed out a picture of E.A.Poe, aged it with Distress Ink pad Vintage Photo and glued it to the frame.

Vi saluto...alla prossima!
That's it...see you next time!

Kisses&Hugs!
Simo.
